In response to reports that the Sussexes have gone house-hunting, the royal biographer stated that the couple ‘didn’t have enough money’ when compared to the super-rich A-listers who have made California their home, joking that ‘Elon Musk is still single’ if the duchess wants to trade up to the £193billion entrepreneur.
While the Sussexes’ reported £20 million net worth is substantial, it pales in contrast to other California-based celebrities.
Their neighbor Oprah Winfrey, who anchored their bombshell Megxit interview, is projected to be worth £2.26 billion, while Jay Z and Beyoncé, whom they met at the premiere of The Lion King in 2019, are thought to be worth roughly £1.35 billion.
Tyler Perry, who entertained the Sussexes when they first arrived in America, is likewise considerably wealthier, with an estimated net worth of £800 million. Similarly, the fortunes of fellow Californians Ellen DeGeneres, the comedian, and Kylie Jenner are estimated to be £451 million and £900 million, respectively.
While the Sussexes’ reported £20 million net worth is substantial, it pales in contrast to other California-based celebrities.
According to local rumors, Meghan has been searching for a ‘private estate’ in Hope Ranch, a posh neighborhood a few miles away from their current residence.
Brown, however, stated at the Henley Literary Festival, “It’s not very pleasant to be a D-list star who, for them, doesn’t have enough money.” It’s an entirely other ballgame when you’re surrounded by those extremely wealthy individuals.
In comparison to what these other folks have, their $14 million mansion in Montecito is a modest cottage.
The royal biographer, author of The Diana Chronicles and The Palace Papers, replied, “Yes, and at some time she may be searching for more than a new house,” before adding, “Elon Musk is still unmarried, that’s all I can say.”
The Telegraph also highlighted Brown’s assertion at Henley that the forthcoming tell-all biography of the Duke may never be published.
She said, ‘They are now in a position where they’ve taken all this money and Harry has made a book deal where he’s meant to break the beans about his horrific life as a royal, but he’s troubled about it because he knows there’s no turning back once he does it.’
If the book continues, I don’t see how Harry could possibly return. So, my view has always been that the book would never be published.
Brown argued that King Charles may personally repay the money already made to his son.
The memoir had been finalized in preparation for an expected fall release, but the Duke, who is penning the book as part of a nearly £40 million three-title contract, allegedly requested significant changes.

Although it may not qualify as a “humble cottage,” the Sussexes’ nine-bedroom, 16-bathroom estate pales in comparison to other celebrities residing in California.

Concerned that the book will include embarrassing information, palace officials have reportedly discussed ways to prevent Prince Harry from publishing it.
A friend of the King remarked, “The question within the Palace is, ‘Can the book be halted?’” Even Harry may not be able to stop it at this point, but the belief at the very top is that expressing concerns in public serves no purpose.
When the book is published, lawyers for the Royal Family at the company Harbottle and Lewis are likely to be on standby to read it.
And while reports that Harry and Meghan are anticipating a one-year thaw in relations with the rest of the family, their much anticipated Netflix series may throw another wrench into the works.
Page Six reports that the Sussexes are now working on a documentary as part of their $100 million deal with the streaming service. The documentary is set to broadcast in December.
However, insiders said last week that the couple planned to make changes to the series, potentially delaying its broadcast until later in 2023, to “downplay much of what they’ve said about King Charles III, Queen Consort Camilla, and the Prince and Princess of Wales.”
And now, according to insiders, the couple is ‘having second thoughts’ about the project, with one Netflix source stating that Harry and Meghan are ‘panicking’ over trying to tone down even the most basic language. However, it is their story as told by themselves.’
Some Netflix employees feel that if the demands are granted, the project would be shelved permanently.
