A man in his 30s was fatally shot by police in front of a restaurant in South Brisbane.
The man in his 30s was shot numerous times by police shortly before 3 p.m. outside The Greek Club restaurant in South Brisbane after he threatened them.
Detective Superintendent Andrew Massingham, Regional Crime Coordinator for the Brisbane Region, stated that police responded to a report that a man was hiding in the attic of a separate business on Fish Lane in South Brisbane.

According to him, authorities received information that a man had fallen through the roof and was attempting to assault individuals inside the establishment, but he fled before their arrival.
“At around 3:05 p.m., a male matching the description and attire was spotted going along this street in front of The Greek Club,” stated Det. Supt. Massingham.
As police approached the man, they claim he attempted to enter through the unlocked rear door of the police vehicle.
As he was confronted by a male police, the man attempted to aggressively rush the officer.
Det Sup Massingham stated, “At that point, the officer observed he was equipped with a 30cm metal rod with a handle attached.”
Officers attempted to subdue him using a stun gun. This taser was ineffectual and dropped to the ground, where it remains to this day on the sidewalk. The police subsequently judged it necessary to fire their weapons.
Both the female and male officers fired three rounds from their respective guns.
The police began CPR immediately at the scene, but he was pronounced dead shortly thereafter.
With a crime scene established between Russell and Melbourne streets, police have closed Edmonstone Street between Russell and Melbourne streets for several hours.
A worker at the Greek Club who claimed hearing multiple gunshots told the Courier Mail, “Our manager was outside when he heard the bullets and then yelled, ‘Everyone get down!’”
We hid in an office for approximately ten minutes out of fear that it was a psychotic gunman.
Edmonstone Street has been closed between Russell and Melbourne streets because a crime scene has been declared, and the closure is expected to last several hours.
