South Korea stampede: President Ramaphosa offers condolences

President Cyril Ramaphosa has extended his deepest sympathies to the government and people of South Korea following the unfortunate loss of life during Halloween festivities in the nation’s capital, Seoul.
Since then, South Korean President Yoon Suk-yeol has announced a period of national mourning following a stampede that resulted in the untimely deaths of more than 150 people and the injuries of 82 more.
The South Korean government has reportedly initiated a probe into one of the nation’s bloodiest tragedies in recent years.
Saturday’s accident occurred in the nightlife neighborhood of Itaewon, where more than 100,000 people reportedly congregated for Halloween celebrations.
According to witnesses, many were stranded in curving, sloped lanes, as reported by ABC News.
In the meantime, President Ramaphosa stated that South Africans mourn alongside South Koreans for the lives killed in the unfortunate disaster.
Sunday, the President’s Office reported, “President Ramaphosa wished all those hurt a quick recovery.”
In the meantime, President Ramaphosa recalled the good political, economic, commercial, and interpersonal ties between South Africa and South Korea.
