Amy Jo Johnson tells grieving Power Rangers fans to “reach out”

Power Rangers alum Amy Jo Johnson mourns the loss of her co-star Jason David Frank, who passed away at the age of 49.

Yesterday (November 21), the actress posted a heartfelt homage to Frank on Instagram, where she pondered on their friendship and performed a few piano pieces in his honor. Johnson stated, “Jason has always enjoyed my singing.”

Johnson, who portrayed the Pink Ranger in the original Mighty Morphin Power Rangers series, grew upset during her tribute, expressing that her friend’s passing “truly sucked” and that she “misses Jason so much.” She added, “I just logged on because I was feeling so down and it’s hitting me hard today.”

She continued to reassure Frank’s admirers that they played an important role in his life. Johnson added, “I’m uncertain. I simply thought about you all since I know how much you all mattered to him and how much sorrow and sadness you must all be experiencing.”

Johnson continued by expressing her surprise at his passing, stating, “He was such a force and such a brilliant, crazy, wild, and hilarious light. I can’t even believe it. My skull hurts so much,” she said, adding that Frank would frequently tell her how proud he was.

Frank, known for his role as the Green Ranger in the famous series, passed away on Sunday (Nov. 20). His Justine Hunt did not disclose a cause of death or any more information; TMZ stated that he committed suicide. Hunt’s statement urged everyone to “respect the privacy of his family and friends during this terrible time as we struggle to accept the loss of such a lovely human being.”

Before her final song, Johnson offered a message to individuals with mental health issues. She remarked, “Anyone who is feeling hopeless and despondent should know that this is not the case, that there is support, and that there is a community here.”

Johnson said, “Simply make contact. Reach out for assistance if you feel this way. Fuck. It absolutely stinks. Apologies for the foul language, but it truly fucks.”

She concluded her video by stating, “I am aware of how much you all meant to Jason, and it stinks. However, we will all be okay.”

Walter Emanual Jones, who portrayed the Black Ranger in the Power Rangers television series, reacted on Johnson’s homage, asking her to “hang in there” and wrote, “This swirl we are going through is insane!”
