Moroccan paraglides into Europe

This is the first documented instance of a migrant crossing into European territory by paragliding over Spain’s southern border with Morocco.

Before summoning the police, two villagers in Melilla, a Spanish colony in North Africa, captured the astounding picture on camera as they drove along the double fence.

However, by the time the police came, the unnamed immigrant had already left and was nowhere to be located.

The paraglider is believed to have utilized equipment that was left at the site and priced just £5.50 online.

Yesterday evening at about 6.15 o’clock, a historic crossing took place where the Nano River’s border barrier divides Melilla, Spain, and Rabat, Morocco.

In January of last year, almost 90 of the approximately 150 migrants who assaulted the border barrier managed to enter the Spanish enclave.

Brother, he’s coming down in a f***ing paraglider, a f***ing paraglider has just come down, was overheard one of the two guys in the vehicle saying to the other.

What a difficult landing he just had.

In response, the other guy says, “Call the Civil Guard.”

Yesterday evening, local authorities verified that it was the first known instance of someone paragliding into Melilla.

The brave immigrant’s name and country of origin are still unknown.

Local media reports the historic crossing as the first recorded unauthorized migrant incursion into Melilla from Morocco since June 24.

That day, a human stampede occurred as thousands attempted to climb the strongly guarded border barrier, resulting in at least 24 deaths. According to human rights organizations, 70 people who were participated in the event are still unaccounted for.

Fernando Grande-Marlaska, Spain’s interior minister, is under pressure to quit after a documentary claimed that some fatalities had taken place on Spanish soil.

He emphasized that no fatalities had been reported in Spain on Wednesday, telling the Spanish Parliament: “I have said it before and I will repeat it again: we are talking about horrible incidents that took place outside our country.”

After being transferred from crowded temporary stay centers, many undocumented migrants who arrive in Melilla come from as far away as Sudan and use it as a stepping stone to reach the European mainland.

One of only two land borders between the EU and an African nation is the tightly guarded border between Morocco and Melilla. The other is Ceuta, another Spanish colony.

20 to 32 feet tall and 7.5 miles long, the two parallel border fences in Melilla by the road the paraglider was captured crossing are located there.

In the past, migrants have attempted to enter the Spanish enclave by hiding inside car bumpers and spaces under passenger seats that have been specially modified.

They have also put their lives in danger by trying to go by boat while utilizing truck tires.

Three men were saved by Spanish coastguards earlier this week after they spent 11 days on the rudder of a ship sailing from Nigeria.

They were taken to the hospital after the Althini II arrived in Las Palmas, the capital of Gran Canaria, and have since applied for political asylum after being treated for hypothermia and released from the hospital.
