Cam Reddish has been removed from the Knicks’ rotation, and he may be on his way out of New York.
Reddish stated many times on Wednesday night, after missing his second straight game, that he has not asked the Knicks to trade him.
“I have not asked for any trades. Reddish stated as much following the Knicks’ 113-89 victory over his former team, the Hawks. “You guys appear to know more than I do, for genuine. I don’t know what you’re talking about, but I haven’t asked for any trades or anything similar.”
The Athletic reports that the Knicks have attempted to tie Reddish to a trade aimed at dumping the $18 million payroll of Evan Fournier, who has not played since November 13. The Knicks have been working with Reddish’s representatives to identify a trade partner, according to a Wednesday report.
Reddish was acquired in a January trade that gave a first-round selection to the Hawks, and he has played in each of the Knicks’ first 19 games this season. Before missing three games in late November due to a groin injury, he made eight starts.
A healthy Reddish, along with Derrick Rose, were kept out of Tom Thibodeau’s nine-man rotation for Sunday’s home victory over the Cavaliers and Wednesday’s game, as Quentin Grimes assumed the starting shooting guard position in his absence.
