  • BBMzansi – Men’s Conference Discussions

This is a space that they have created to share their feelings about the things happening in the house and to also discuss their love interests in the house. They then share strategies on how they will navigate themselves in the House. The women in the House have caught on to this and eavesdropped on the conversation the men were having before the Saturday Night Party.

Some of the advice they have given each other at the conference is to be mean to the girls, not speak to some to make them feel some type of way, and to start planting doubt in their heads, but it seems like some of them are saying one thing and doing another.

Some of the audiences feel that Themba came up with the idea of the Men’s Conference so that the guys could be distracted and that it’s all part of his strategy to win.

We loved that at Men’s Conference today that discussed consent and that the insights that came out of the session were positive. Gash1 found out that Venus has been feeling uncomfortable with the everyday hugs that he has been asking her for and has said that he will stop because he was not aware that he was making her uncomfortable.

We also found out in Gash1’s video session that the men are catching real feelings, so then is the conference a good idea, because the women in the House are seeing it as a negative thing. Will it end in tears?

One thing remains certain, they have all admitted that things will fall apart.

Big Brother Mzansi season 3 is broadcast live 24/7 on DStv Channel 198. There is a daily highlight show on Mzansi Magic (DStv channel 161), Tuesdays to Fridays starting 25 January 2022 at 22.30. Sunday Eviction Shows begin on 30 January at 18:00 and will be broadcast on Mzansi Magic.

  • BBMzansi – It’s been a crazy first week

It’s been a roller-coaster of a first week in the Big Brother Mzansi House. It started, obviously enough, with audiences being introduced to 18 Housemates during the first Live Show, and the personalities were on display from the jump.

It became clear that the Housemates are all very different indeed, from the vegan B.U. (who nevertheless wears an animal skin headdress, because he is “Zulu first, vegan second) to Terry – an adult content creator with zero chill.

It usually takes a few days for Housemates to start sharing intimate stories with one another, but Biggie’s instruction that they tell each other about where they come from was interpreted as a request that they talk about serious struggles that they have endured.

The result was a series of revelations during which the Housemates opened up about some very painful (and occasionally harrowing) experiences from their lives, and Day 1 of Big Brother Mzansi will probably go down as the fastest acceleration from “fun and games” to “deadly serious” in the history of the franchise.

This ramp up did not come without its consequences, though. Having opened up about some very sensitive issues, QV came to realise that they were still unresolved in her mind, and that she needed to deal with them as a matter of urgency.

After some consultation, she elected to bring her role in the game to an early end, and voluntarily left the House on Day 3, a move that surprised viewers and Housemates alike.

Arguably, another result of the Housemates sharing their personal stories was a sense of over confidence: if they could go through that, they could do anything, right?

This confidence showed itself when Tulz – who won the title of Head of House on Monday – was presented with the first Wager Task: present a play, poem or performance that demonstrates where the Housemates come from.

When Tulz shared the Task with the other Housemates, and they needed to decide how much of their weekly income they would wager on the outcome, they elected to bet 100% – an astonishingly bold move for their first such Task of the season.

It proved to be a bridge too far: sharing stories of personal tragedy does not translate to being able to work together on a creative brief, and their over-confidence quickly lost some of its shine as the Housemates started to quarrel and bicker over the direction of the Task Presentation, so far as to seriously entertain the notion of reworking the entire focus of the performance the night before they were required to present it.

In the end, it was all for naught. Based on their work over the course of the week, Biggie announced that they had failed in their Task, and they lost their entire income for the following week.

Other divisions have also become clear. The Diary Sessions on Friday were illuminating in this regard, with multiple Housemates of the opinion that the relationships between the women were less-than-stellar, bordering on openly hostile.

Mphowabadimo complained about Yoli totally ghosting her and suggested that this was because she was uncomfortable with Mpho being a sangoma. Acacia suggested that Dinkybliss’ emotional back-and-forth was a sign of her playing the game rather than an honest response to stress.

While most of the Housemates claim that the men are getting along, that’s not quite so cut and dried, either.

Themba claimed that the Men’s’ Conferences – as they have become known – were really his brainchild, and he did it to get the men focussed on the women, rather than the game.

His plan is to keep the other men occupied on unimportant matters while he goes about manipulating the situation to his advantage. Time will tell if his strategy bears any fruit.

It was against this backdrop that the Saturday Night Party went down. Rather than any ships setting sail, it turned out to be a night where crushes were… well, crushed. Tulz and Nale established that they would continue as friends – which sounds nice, but Tulz had already admitted to having a crush on her, so that might not have been an unmitigated joy.

Dinkybliss tried to shoot her shot with Themba, who firmly rejected the move by calling her a “sister”, which is just about the biggest shutdown a person can get.

Even more surprisingly, Dinky’s claim that the two of them had already come close to having a sexual encounter was empathically rejected as untrue.

Undeterred, Dinky tried her luck with some of the other men, including B.U., but ended up recommending that he finds someone he has a crush on, so that he can be with them. It was a weird moment.

Venus and Terry are of the opinion that Norman is trying to hook up with one of them as part of a strategy, and they insist that they’re not going to play his game, so he’s out of the running (if he even wanted to be in it).

That brings us to today, and the second Live Show of the season; with the Housemates fearing Eviction – and totally unaware of what Lawrence might drop on them as host – the Housemates face an unpredictable night and an even more unpredictable week ahead of them.

  • Karnataka: Police suspended for kicking and assaulting differently-abled woman in public

Karnataka police on Sunday suspended a police official after he allegedly kicked and assaulted a differently-abled woman in public after the latter hurled stones injuring him while being on duty in Bengaluru.

Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Narayan, posted with the Halasurugate police station in Bengaluru, is the suspended police official. According to police, the differently-abled woman identified as Manjula had all of a sudden hurled a stone at ASI Narayan while he was sitting inside a towed vehicle.

The stone allegedly hit Narayan’s face and he started bleeding. Enraged by the act of the woman, the ASI kicked her repeatedly, abused and held her by the hair dragging her all over the road.

Though, the people asked the policeman to let the woman go as she is reported to be mentally unfit, Narayan continued assaulting the woman. Later, he lodged a complaint with S.J. Park police station and the woman was taken into custody.

Meanwhile, the people recorded a video of the incident and posted it on the social media. As the video went viral, the people condemned the brutal attack on the woman by the police official.

Bengaluru Police Commissioner, Kamal Pant has now suspended the ASI for assaulting the differently-abled woman in public.

Police sources said that the woman has a crippled hand and hated towing of vehicles by the police, so she hurled stones at the police wherever she saw them. The investigation is underway.

  • ‘Raising Dion’ Is Raising Hell in Season 2

What do you get when you mix a crime-fighting kid, a superhero boot camp and a mysterious newbie with special powers? That’s right: Raising Dion Season 2.

After a two-year break, the superhero family show is back with eight more episodes. “Navigating twists, turns and surprise visitors, Dion and Nicole must prevail again — not just to save themselves, but the entire city of Atlanta,” the show’s synopsis reads.

The trailer shows Dion (Ja’Siah Young), two years after defeating the Crooked Man (Jason Ritter) in Season 1, trying to fight crime in his neighborhood — at the expense of his mom, Nicole (Alisha Wainwright).

But after Dion befriends new superkid Brayden (Griffin Robert Faulkner) and sees darkness emerge at Biona, he learns that evil might not yet be defeated.

“Every powered person is at risk as long as that thing is out there,” Nicole warns. Could it be Pat Rollins, aka the Crooked Man, once again?

The series is based on a 2015 comic book of the same name by Dennis Liu, who is also an executive producer and will return to direct some episodes of Season 2. Michael B. Jordan will also be back to executive produce Season 2.

  • BB Mzansi Friday Night Game, Hot-Hot Fruit

It takes as long as it takes for Biggie to tell you to report to the Arena immediately! Tonight we had the very first Friday Night Games.

The Housemates walked into the Arena and tried to figure out how the game would work before getting the instructions on how to play.

They thought that this would give them an advantage, and they could not have been more wrong.

The name of the Friday Night Game was called Hot-Hot Fruit and consisted of four challenges, but before that Biggie had to lay down the ground rules.

    Rules
    1.    One housemate after another would take turns to complete the challenges.
    2.    The housemate with the quickest time wins.
    3.    Each Housemate was given seven minutes to complete the tasks.
    4.    If the Housemates step over the red lines, they would be disqualified.

    The Challenges

    Challenge one: Spin the wheel
The wheel consisted of different fruits, the watermelon, plum, orange, and a bar, and the words wild-wild.  The trick to this game was to spin the wheel until it lands on a fruit and then they would be able to move on to the next challenge.

    Challenge two: Orange grid
The trick to this challenge was that the Housemates had to roll the oranges into the grid and they had to get three oranges in a line. This could be horizontally, vertically, or diagonally.

    Challenge 3: Watermelon roll
The Housemates had to grab a watermelon and roll it from start to end. The watermelons were in two baskets and they had to roll a total of three to move on to the next challenge., The course had demarcated lines on each side and they couldn’t go over them or they would have to start the challenge again.

    Challenge four: Smash the fruit

This challenge had plums placed on cones and they had to fill the water guns provided with water and shoot at the plums until they fall off of the cones.

It all sounded simple enough until the Housemates had to start playing.  Six of the Housemates got disqualified and almost all of them struggled with challenge four.

Norman won the Game Night with a record-breaking time of two minutes with B.U coming in a close second. Venus, Sis Tamara, and Thato represented and all finished their challenges under the four-minute mark.

  • BBMzansi Saturday Night Hectic Party

Tonight, the Big Brother Housemates get to let their hair down during their first Saturday Night Party, which will probably come as something of a relief after the week they’ve had: the excitement of entering the House, the emotional strain of sharing deep, personal stories, losing the Wager Task – it’s all taken its toll.

The week also started with all of the Housemates looking like they were just the very best of friends, but time has brought about some divisions in the group – not surprising considering the considerably varied background the Housemates have. They can’t be expected to always get along.

Zino, for example: the youngest Housemate of the season, he admits to being a “mommy’s boy”, and is a student of digital marketing. Contrast this with another Jozi native, Terry, whose professional aspirations a very different, indeed.

An adult content creator who described herself as “a soft thug”, the two seem as different as it can get.

They do have one thing in common, though: Terry clearly has a very soft spot for her mother, saying that, were she to win the competition, “I want to help my mother with the family.”

Zino has confessed that he has something of a soft spot for Venus, the 25-year-old bartender and aspiring musician from Durban, although he’s keeping his distance so as not to lead himself into temptation, because he has girlfriend, extra Domum.

Venus has been noticeably quiet during the first week of Big Brother, in contrast to the decidedly prominent personalities of the rest of the group, but she’s clearly been noticed.

The men have given her the codename, “Trespasser”, for… reasons? Strangely, though, she says that “talking always helps me – expressing myself”. Perhaps she should start doing that, then.

Venus has spent a bit of time paired up with Themba this week, as they had been collaborating on music for the first Wager Task. Aside from his musical abilities, Themba earns a living as a tattoo artist, which comes as no surprise to anyone who has seen his heavily inked face.

An early fan favourite, Themba is something of an enigma. During a recent Diary Session, he laid out the ways in which he has been executing his strategy: orchestrating the so-called “Men’s Conferences”, being deliberately enigmatic in order to stir interest in himself, and being sure to share a room with B.U., who he sees as his most dangerous rival. Keep your enemies close, we guess.

B.U. is also an aspiring musician, although he lived a former life as a research analyst. From the jump, everybody knew that he was a vegan (because he wasted no time in telling us), albeit the type of vegan who doesn’t shy away from wearing an animal skin headdress.

“I’m Zulu first, vegan second,” was his explanation for that, which is fair enough. Unaware that Biggie already knew the identify of “The Trespasser”, he inadvertently let it slip that this was his crush – so, Venus has another potential suitor.

Somebody who is probably really looking forward to letting his hair down (not that he has any) is Tulz. Burdened with the responsibility of being Head of House during the first week and overseeing what turned out to be a disastrous Wager Task, he must be dying for an opportunity to just forget about things.

The voice artist, actor and broadcaster has stated that he intends to play it cool, and not lose his temper. “It’s not always easy,” he admitted during yesterday’s Diary Session. It’s safe to say that not everyone has the same zen-based strategy to winning the game.

Tulz admitted that his friendship with Nale has turned into a crush, on his part, but he’s resigned to the fact that it “probably won’t happen.”

Describing herself as a “fine gyal, not a sad gyal”, Nale hails from Pretoria and is a model and actress and admits to being “a big flirt”.

She’s not had the best few days, recently, after she called a House meeting to address some stress that Mphowabadimo was experiencing, but the latter clammed up when it was her time to speak, leaving the House feeling like Nale was stirring up drama for no reason.

“It felt like I was set up by my friends,” she complained. “But then I realised I don’t have ‘friends’. This is a game.” As perceptive as that comment might be, the sense of betrayal might take longer to subside than she thinks.

Mphowabadimo originally intended to keep the fact that she is a sangoma secret but ended up spilling the beans on Day 1.

She thinks that this may be the reason that some people are stand-offish toward her, and she complains that she’s being flatly ignored by some Housemates.

“The only way I will win the R2 million is by keeping my head under water,” she said during yesterday’s Diary Session. The problem with that strategy is that – eventually – you’ll drown.

One of the Housemates who admits to having a problem with Mphowabadimo – at least at first – is Dinkybliss. She says that, rather than being opposed to Mphowabadimo being a sangoma, she actually has something of the same gift, although she had been supressing it all her life.

This led to her not being able to meet Mpho’s eyes, because she felt exposed. “The energies were too strong.”

Dinkybliss came up in Themba’s Diary Session too. He says that he has her all sussed out and can manipulate her to tap all the information he wants from her.

It turns out, however, that Dinky is perhaps not entirely under his thrall – she’s onto him. “Themba thinks he can use me for information, but I’m feeding him the wrong information.” The game has already turned into three-dimensional chess.

Dinkybliss seems to have made a friend quite early, though – Yoli. This very bubbly woman teaches performing arts and studies psychology, so she defaulted to taking a lead role in formulating the Wager Task Presentation.

She admitted to having a crush on B.U., but she’s moving on. “It’s not reciprocated, so I’m just gonna turn it off, and move on.” Along with Nale and Venus, she counts accountant Thato has one of her closest allies.

For her part, Thato admits to being open to romantic relationships in the House. “I’m single, so I’m looking,” she explains. “Honestly, my crush in the House was Tulz, but competition is tough.

I’m quite clear who I think he has a crush on.” Without actually naming names, it’s likely that she thinks it’s Nale, since she and Tulz have been spending quite a bit of time together.

When Sis Tamara came into the House, so did a lot of pronouns. As “a gender non-conforming experience”, Sis Tamara goes by he & him, she & her and they & them.

They have expressed a strong bond with Terry. “We are basically the same person.” When speaking about any romantic relationships that might be going around, Sis Tamara claims that “the sexual tension is there.

The temptation is there.” According to her, Terry will “eventually  let her guard down and allow Gash1 in.” Perhaps, but it’ll be a challenge. Speaking about Gash1, Terry said, “there’s something there that I’m very suspicious of. Something is just off.”

Given all of these dynamics, and the assorted strategies and intrigue, tonight’s Saturday Night Party is going to be an interesting one: will we have some hook ups? Some explosive behaviour? Tune in and find out.
