  • Navigating the House – BB Mzansi House Rules

    Confront your issues head-on

This has been the order of the day. The confrontation between the ladies after they lost the Wager Task, did not go down as well as it could have, but it happened, and they fixed their issues.

There were a lot of confrontations after the Friday Games Night.

The Housemates had to confront each other and their feelings. Yoli believes in addressing issues as they happen.

    Consistently work at being disciplined

Tensions have been high in the House, and the Housemates think it is due to a lack of discipline. B.U believes that he’s the most disciplined of the lot – and that puts him in a good position and absolves him from the tension.

    Be yourself

This has come up a lot, and all the Housemates believe in staying true to themselves. They think it is the only way to guarantee a win.

Terry feels that the people who change their personalities will fall short. It’s an interesting one because the audience seems to disagree.

    Build relationships

The Housemates believe that it’s important to build solid relationships in the House and that you need people who will have your back. Even though everyone is playing a game, genuine connections are being made.

Tulz advised Nale to make sure that she has people who are on her side.

    Read the room

It’s very important to be observant in the House so you can be aware of what’s going on.

That informs the strategy because you’re also able to get a feel for how your Housemates feel about you. Norman prides himself in being able to read the room.

    Set Boundaries

You can’t control how others feel about you, but you can control how you react to those feelings and the situations you find yourself.

One of the best examples of this that we’ve seen was the conversation between Nale and Tulz; they’ve set the boundaries and have agreed to be good friends.

  • Day 6: Saturday vibes – BB Mzansi

Day 6: Saturdays are for vibes – BB Mzansi.

The energy in the house was electric since Biggie opened up the Storeroom.

The Housemates have been getting along, sharing stories, fixing each other’s hair, role-playing, and dancing with each other.

The music in the House has set the tone for the Saturday Night Party.

The morning kicked off with some of the Housemates in the kitchen dancing and singing some old-school House music jams.

This sparked interesting conversations around some of their favourite musicians and Casper Nyovest was featured on this list and he was cited as a great entertainer.

There was also a laundry session that took place and the Housemates were speaking freely about how they were feeling, and we hope that this means no one will be complaining about not having anything to wear.

The Housemates fill the silences with song, and we are here for the harmonies and the harmony in the house today.

We are just trying to figure out who can’t dance in this House because some of the dance moves we are seeing are mind-blowing.

The Housemates have also discussed what they will be wearing tonight and Thato is ready to bring out not only the dance moves but also her lashes and Dinky has offered to help her get ready.

Some of the Housemates decided to nap before tonight so that they can have all the energy that will be required for the rocking that will take place.

Day six has proven to be one of the best days on the House, filled with laughter, a whole lot of positive energy, and some snoring from Libo.

All that’s left to do is to set up, glam up and rock!

Big Brother Mzansi just returned but naked scenes are everywhere now.

The year 2022 brought with it the reintroduction of the reality television fan-favourite show Big Brother Mzansi (BBMzansi) which was formerly known as big brother South Africa.

The reality television show is trending each and every day on social media, more especially on Twitter and Facebook, With so many people talking about it day and night since its day one.

  • Meet the Inaugural Future Gold Film Fellowship Class

Last fall, Netflix, Gold House and Tribeca joined forces to create the Future Gold Film Fellowship, a program designed to elevate three Asian and Pacific Islander directors. Today, we’re introducing the inaugural cohort: Lloyd Lee Choi, Erin Lau, and Derek Nguyen.

Through the program, these three directors will create scripted short films that explore the complexities of family love, persistence, and loss through their own remarkable artistic visions.

The filmmakers will receive full funding; creative feedback and mentorship from Tribeca Studios and Netflix executives as well as production expertise from Tribeca; exposure to established talent within the Gold House network; and a seat in Gold House Futures, the premier collective of the most promising next-gen API creatives, founders, and social impact leaders. Additionally, the short films will be considered to premiere at the Tribeca Festival in June.

“These projects demonstrate the wonderful breadth of stories that can come from the API community,” said writer and director Aneesh Chaganty, who served on the selection committee. “And as someone whose career was kickstarted by a short film, I’m particularly excited to see this crop of filmmakers bring these stories to life.”

“I’m excited to be working with such groundbreaking industry entities such as Netflix, Gold House, and Tribeca Studios,” said recipient Derek Nguyen. “I’m grateful that these leaders in advancing inclusion are giving us the opportunity to make films that truly reflect our diverse API community. I feel heard, supported, and honored.”

“To have support from Netflix, Tribeca Studios, and Gold House and to be part of such a passionate community is truly inspiring. I can’t wait to bring my film Closing Dynasty to life,” said recipient Lloyd Lee Choi. “It’s a story that I hope brings a new take on the API experience, and one that continues to bring visibility and empathy to a community we need to see more of on screen.”

“I’m so incredibly thrilled and honored to be selected for this fellowship and to have the opportunity to make a film about my home of Hawaiʻi,” said recipient Erin Lau. “Programs like the Future Gold Film Fellowship, which focus on elevating stories and voices from the API community are vital, especially during these challenging times. • EnerGEO, African Energy Chamber (AEC) Call on Scientific Community to Rethink Distorted Research on Seismic Survey Impacts

JOHANNESBURG, South Africa, January 28, 2022/ — Global representative of the energy geoscience industry, EnerGEO Alliance (EnerGEO), and African energy sector advocate, the African Energy Chamber (AEC) (www.EnergyChamber.org), have called on the scientific community – most notably the Scientific Advisory Group on Energies (SAGE) – to reconsider the fundamentally flawed and misinformed data and research that suggest scientific surveys have significantly negative impacts on marine life and ecosystems.

At the beginning of the year, SAGE called on the South African Government to strengthen and improve legislation that supposedly serves to protect the marine environment found in the Wild Coast, offshore South Africa.

In its advisory, SAGE suggested that seismic surveys pose a significant threat to marine life in the region, raising concerns surrounding the potential environmental harm and impact to local, small-scale fishing communities.

EnerGEO and the AEC has responded with a written response claiming that the review is based on “distortions and misinformation,” stating that there is no scientific evidence to suggest that seismic surveying, which has been an ongoing and essential developmental process for over a century, has any sort of biologically significant negative impact on marine life or their ecosystems.

“There is no scientific basis that the planned seismic surveying will have any sort of impact on marine ecosystems. The data presented by SAGE is not only misinformed, but inaccurate, with the decision to halt activity not only causing project disruption, but directly hindering any progress to make energy poverty history.

We need to put our people first, and with no harm anticipated to be done to marine life from the surveys, there is no reason we cannot continue to explore,” states NJ Ayuk, Executive Chairman of the AEC.

EnerGEO and AEC members are champions not only for energy development in Africa, but for Africa’s beautiful and rich biodiversity, having consistently been committed to operating in an environmentally responsible and sustainable manner.

Both entities have expressed their well-founded concerns surrounding the many inaccuracies contained within SAGE’s advisory, which features strongly refutable evidence suggesting that irreparable harm will come as a result of seismic survey activities in South Africa, or anywhere else on the globe.

“By opposing seismic surveys, SAGE has now aligned itself against South Africa’s pathway out of energy poverty, shutting out the one industry that accelerates the energy transition and supports the country’s net zero emissions goal,” adds Nikki Martin, President of EnerGEO.

Citing numerous scientific sources that examine the response to underwater noise by marine life and the impacts of such surveys on marine environments, the AEC and EnerGEO’s response points to the well-established notion that there is no evidence to suggest that seismic activity will irreparably harm or disturb the environment on a regional scale, highlighting that there have been no seismic services conducted in South Africa’s waters without extensive research by experts of marine science conducted through Environmental Impact Assessment reports.

While the SAGE publication does offer some truth to its statement that relatively few studies have been conducted in South Africa, it must be noted that extensive seismic surveying has been ongoing within the United States’ Gulf of Mexico for over 50 years, wherein fisheries and local marine life and ecosystems have continued to thrive, suggesting the authors of the advisory are misinformed with regards to global geophysical and geoscientific data and analysis, purposefully ignoring that there are policy frameworks in place to guarantee approved environmental protection and management plans that ensure the protection of oceanic and marine areas.

The Makhanda High Court of South Africa recently granted an interim interdict for oil and gas supermajor Shell’s seismic survey off the Wild Coast of South Africa’s eastern coastline, in a move that will certainly detract from South Africa’s ability to transition towards cleaner forms of energy, particularly considering the European Union’s landmark declaration to label gas as a green energy source.

Therefore, EnerGEO and the AEC have called on SAGE to engage in a direct dialogue in order to express concerns regarding the serious inaccuracies contained within its advisory, and in order to allow the scientific advisor to be better informed through the provision of additional information and scientific support.

Professor Jerome Singh, Director at SAGE, has stated that the group has yet to convene to discuss EnerGEO and the AEC’s letter.

This advisory is a misinterpretation of well-scrutinized scientific research, which raises to concern, hyper-inflated and overplayed consternations surrounding the relationship between much-needed development and the sanctity of the environment, suggesting that the two are intrinsically incongruous.

This notion could not be further from the truth, as EnerGEO and the AEC remain fully committed to Africa’s development, the alleviation of energy poverty, the energy transition, as well as the wellbeing of the environment.
