    For Specimens D, E F, and G, you are requested to get four 250ml beakers and Label them D, E F, and G.

    Put dry garden soil into each beaker, up to 100ml level

    Add 10ml of water to the soil in each of beakers D, E, and f.

    Oven dries the garden soil in beaker G and leaves dry throughout the period of the experiment.

    For Specimen D, put five viable bean seeds into the soil in the beaker labeled D.

    For specimen E, soak five viable beam seeds in water for 2-3 hours, then remove the testa of the soaked bean seeds. Spilled open the cotyledon into the soil in the beaker labeled E.

    For specimen F, place five bean seeds into the soil in the beaker labeled F and add some quantity of kerosene enough to cover the surface of the soil in the beaker.

    For specimen G, add five dry and viable bean seeds into the soil in the beaker labeled G.

    Place all the beakers in a place with adequate sunlight for seven days.

    Moisten the soils in each of the beakers labeled D and E with 5ml of water daily for seven days before the examination.

    Supply the necessary information about the specimens;

    Report on any difficulty in the conduct of the examination;

    Report any difficulty experienced by any candidate during the conduct of the examination, especially if the examiner would be unable to discover these from the scripts;

    Carry out and record experimental observations as directed in the Report form.

    You must enclose a completed Report Form in each form envelope of scripts.

  • The Different Versions Of Solitaire

    Solitaire is a single player game which originiated in northern Europe around the 1700s. The goal of the game is to stack cards into sequences. These sequences are based on suits and rank.  For example, the cards will be stacked K, Q, J, 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, A with no mixed suits.

    The game is both logical and fun. Its a simple game you can play to take the edge off, with many different types which include: Klondike, Spider, FreeCell, Pyramid, Tripeaks, Golf, and Mahjong, all of which can be played by clicking here.

    The Classic Solitaire game space consists of these elements:

    • The draw pile. A deck of 52 cards. These are shuffled into random order. Of course, the computer versions will shuffle the desks for you.
    • The Foundations. This is a place where piles of cards can be stacked in numerical order. This space is left empty at the start of the game. The beginning foundation card is the Ace of each suit upon which the rest of the cards are stacked, all the way up to the King of that suit.
    • A Table, or tableau. These are either empty spaces or feature cards that are temporarily stored before being added to a Foundation.

    Klondike Solitaire

    Klondike has 2 modes, easy and normal. Turning 3 cards at a time from the stock pile is normal and turning 1 card at a time is easy. The cards will then be automatically dealt. The game is timed and the time starts as soon as the deal is done.

    Scoring is as follows:

    • lay a card on the foundation for the first time +15 points
    • add a new card to the tableau or turn one over +5 points
    • every 30 seconds -8 points

    In the U.S. and Canada, Klondike is the best-known version of the Solitaire card game. When someone refers to “Klondike Solitaire” or “Patience”, it is just another way of saying “Solitaire”. Klondike Solitaire may have been named after the Canadian region of the same name after the game arrived in the region from Europe during the 19th century.

    Over the years, “Klondike” has mostly been dropped.

    The most famous version of Klondike Solitaire is the Microsoft Windows version that came bundled with the operating system up until Windows Version 10.

    The goal of the game is to stack cards into sequences. These sequences are based on suits and rank.  For example, the cards will be stacked K, Q, J, 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, A with no mixed suits.

    You move cards around the gamespace following a set of rules. It’s possible to follow all the rules and still get blocked if you lack strategy and some luck. Blocking yourself in means you lose the game.

    You lay out seven cards in a row. All are face down except the first card. Then, you place an upturned card on top of the second card, then complete the row face down again.

    Spider Solitaire

    Spider Solitaire has 3 modes: easy , medium and hard.

    The playing field is organized with ten columns on the Tableau. Fifty four cards are dealt, with 4 columns having 6 cards each and 6 columns having 5 cards each.

    The remaining 50 cards are in the Reserve, which is dealt atop the columns in the Tableau across 5 deals.

    You start with 500 points, every move is -1 point. You get 100 points for each Royal Flush.

    If you’ve played traditional Classic Solitaire, and looking for more of a challenge, you might want to take a look at some of the variations.  One difficult and challenging variation, Spider Solitaire, is a very popular two-deck version of the game.

    You play by assembling thirteen cards of a suit, in descending sequence from King to Ace.

    Once a full suit of thirteen cards is assembled, it is discarded.

    The goal of the game is to stack cards into sequences. These sequences are based on suits and rank.  For example, the cards will be stacked K, Q, J, 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, A with no mixed suits.

    Freecell Solitaire

    This game allows you to shuffle through the reserve pile an unlimited number of times. The playing field is organized with eight columns on the Tableau. All 52 cards are dealt into the game space.

    You start with 500 points, every move is -1 point. Your goal is to try to complete the game with as many points as possible!

    Freecell Solitaire differs from Classic Solitaire in that the cards are dealt face-up. Also, unlike more challenging versions, such as Spider Solitaire, very few Freecell Solitaire games are unsolvable.

    “FreeCell” features four empty spaces, or cells, that are used for the temporary storage of cards. The FreeCells can be used to store single cards.

    FreeCell is “open” in that the cards are dealt face up at the start of the game. This means that nearly every game can be won as players can plan their moves ahead.

    Like Solitaire, the goal of the game is to stack cards into sequences. These sequences are based on suits and rank.  For example, the cards will be stacked K, Q, J, 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, A with other cards of identical suits.

    Pyramid Solitaire

    Pyramid Solitaire  differs from Classic Solitaire in that the cards are arranged in a pyramid layout. The object of the game is to remove pairs of cards that add up to a total of thirteen from a pyramid arrangement of twenty eight cards.

    Each match of two different values is five points, Kings are five points. Each row you remove from the pyramid is also worth additional points:

    The bottom row is 25 points. The second row is 50 points. The third row is 75 points. The fourth row is 100 points. The fifth row is 150 points. The sixth row is 250 points. The seventh row is 500 points. The maximum card score you can get if you use all cards in the draw pile is 1,255.

    Finishing the game quickly can also give bonus points.

    The max time score is set to 999 and then it subtracts a point for each second. So if you beat the game in 8 minutes and 21 seconds it would subtract 501 points (for 501 seconds) and award you 498 time-based bonus points.

    The theoretical max score is 2,254, though that presumes you beat the game in no time at all.

    Tripeaks Solitaire

    The playing field Tripeaks is organized into three pyramids, or “peaks”. There is a top row of three single cards (peaks of the pyramids) turned face-down, followed by a row of two cards, and so on, down to a final row of ten up-turned cards.

    Most matches are worth five points. When you clear a row you get the row bonus score instead of the 5 points.

    Clearing fourth row: 100 points. Clearing third row: 150 points. Clearing second row: 250 points. Clearing top row: 500 points.

    Players earn a time bonus for completing the game quickly. The time bonus starts off at 1,000 points and counts down a point each second. If you finished the game in a minute and 18 seconds then it would be 922 bonus points.

    The time bonus is added to your row bonus and card removal score to create your total score.

    The theoretical maximum score is 2,120, which is comprised of:

    • card removal: 120 points
    • row bonus: 1,000 points
    • time bonus: 1,000 points

    It is hard to score more than 2,060 points as doing so requires you clearing 28 cards off the board in under a minute, with 5 seconds used up by the initial deal.

    Golf Solitaire

    The playing field of Golf Solitaire is organized with seven columns on the Tableau. Thirty five cards are dealt with five in each column, with one additional card on the Talon and the remaining 16 cards in the draw pile.

    You get:

    • Ten points for each card you clear from the tableau, for a maximum of 350 points.
    • One hundred points for each card you have remaining in the draw pile when you complete the game, for a maximum of 1,600 points.
    • Bonus based on a quick game completion time.
      • This bonus is only granted if the game is completed in under 5 minutes.
      • The max time bonus is 300 & each second you play takes away from the time bonus.
      • If the game takes you over 5 minutes this score is set to zero rather than running into negative numbers.
    • If you beat the game (350 points) in a minute and 33 seconds (206 points) with 8 cards left in the draw pile (800 points) the total score would be 1,356 points.

    The rules of Golf Solitaire are:

    • You can only move a card from the Table to the Talon pile if no other cards are on top of it and it is in sequence.
    • Only the top card in each column may be removed from the Table. The card beneath it is then available for play.
    • Cards rank A 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 J Q K.
    • If there are no moves possible, turn cards up one at a time from the stock to the Talon and resume playing.
    • The Ace and the King can be played on top of each other.
    • If you want a more difficult version, then the Ace and King cannot be played on top of each other.
    • The aim is to clear the thirty five cards into the Talon pile. When you clear the thirty five cards, the game is won.
    • If you are stuck and there are no more moves you can make, the game is lost.

    Mahjong Solitaire

    Mahjong Solitaire differs from Classic Solitaire in that Mahjong Solitaire uses a set of Mahjong tiles rather than cards.

    Mahjong uses tiles as opposed to cards. The object of the game is to match pairs of tiles that have the same image. This will uncover more tiles beneath, which can then be paired.

    Once all the tiles have been paired, the game has been won.

    Not all the tiles can be moved. A tile cannot be moved if there is a tile on top of it. It also can’t be moved if there is a tile right next to it, on both sides.

    You lose the game if no more tiles can be moved.

    In the computer game, of course, you can undo your previous move and keep playing until you do win. But, with a little practice, you shouldn’t need this feature!

    Mahjong is “closed” in that many tiles are hidden at the start of the game.

    You must uncover tiles to progress.

  • Day 42: Eight discoveries we made watching Secret Diary Room sessions on The Buzz – BBNaija

    All the latest BBNaija news. This year, the addition of Showmax’ The Buzz has introduced a new platform for discussion about Big Brother Naija. With host Toke Makinwa discussing the week’s events with a series of guests, it’s played host to a lot of the hottest tea drinking the Shine Ya Eye season has to offer.

    Another aspect of the show are the Secret Diary Room sessions – which are not so secret if you tune into The Buzz.

    Exclusive to the show, the sessions provide viewers the opportunity to see the Housemates rant and rave about things that are bothering them in the House, away from the judging eyes of their fellow Housemates, and the retribution that comes with it.

    These exclusive sessions have allowed us to shine our eye on the tensions and secrets that influence the behaviour in the Big Brother House. Here is list of the things we’ve learned.

    Saga really can’t take a hint

    From the minute she walked into the House, Nini has had Saga follow her around like a shadow.

    There’s been endless talk about this possible ship setting sail from viewers and the other Housemates alike, despite Nini repeatedly saying that she only wants to be friends and that she has a boyfriend outside the House. This has not stopped Saga from trying.

    “Yesterday, Nini chased me out of her bed,” he said during his first secret Diary Session. “I made some moves. I guess I’m making progress.” When being chased away counts as “progress”, you know your game needs work.

    During another session, when asked what he would like to talk about, he said, “of course I want to talk about Nini. I never thought I would be this guy, having these feelings in the House.” The love bug certainly bit him.

    The other Housemates have noticed his affection and have spoken to him about it. “People have been telling me otherwise, but I think it’s okay,” Saga said about his relationship with Nini.

    “People have been telling me I look like a fool; they’ve been laughing about me behind my back.” Nini, for her part, had this to say during her secret session on exactly the same day: “Saga is such a good friend.” Friend. Ouch.

    During another secret session, Saga complained that, “Nini says she’s rubbing off on me, in a bad way. I think she’s trying to use reverse psychology.” Well, clearly, because forward psychology wasn’t working.

    Nini – by this time – was clearly getting irritated with Saga’s refusal to face facts. “He makes everything he does about me!”

    When reflecting on Ebuka’s awkward questioning during a Sunday Live Show, she said she wished he had directed his question to Saga instead. “That’s all on Saga – it has nothing to do with me!”

    At this stage, they’re still close, but Saga might be putting their friendship in jeopardy.

    Pere has upset a fair number of Housemates

    A lot of the Housemates used their Secret Diary Room session to rant about Pere. “I just feel he’s very vain and self-centred,” said Jaypaul. “Pere won’t accept when he’s wrong,” was Nini’s opinion on the matter. “I used to trust Pere as a friend,” said Saga, implying he does not trust him anymore.

    Maria, long considered Pere’s closest ally in the House, told biggie that “Pere makes me slightly uncomfortable.” “I think he’s a very sneaky person,” said Princess.

    On the topic of being barred from the kitchen by Pere when he was Head of House, Whitemoney said that “the Head of House thinks it is a strategy for me, but he fails to recognize that it’s just a passion I love.”

    Which brings us to our next point:

    Pere and Whitemoney really don’t like each other

    “If I had powers of Eviction,” said Pere, “I would Evict Whitemoney. He’s just an embodiment of so much fakeness.” Whitemoney, for his part, would return the favour.

    “He’s too prideful and full of himself, never apologetic.” Whitemoney wasn’t alone in this regard. When asked who they would Evict, if they could, a total of nine Housemates picked him as the one they would send packing.

    No matter what they said, food is an issue

    Nearly all the Housemates said they would never fight about food, but that resolve went out the window once the supplies started to run low.

    “I don’t like the way things are going in the House.

    People are cooking what they like, and now we are out of food,” said Whitemoney. Liquorose was exasperated by people who would eat one meal and then another right after. “You already ate beans, and now you eat noodles, too?” “Thanks for the food,” said Maria, “because we’ve been losing weight.” “The guys can also cook,” said Princess about the food running out, “so why would you put all the blame on the ladies?”

    Saskay has always been on the fence about Cross and Jaypaul

    Cross and Saskay have also been a “will they, won’t they” couple. Recently, a lot of people have been taking sides, some saying that Cross needs to move on, others that Saskay has been stringing him and Jaypaul along.

    “The Housemates are beginning to ship Jaypaul and I,” she said, “and I am not into that.” “I think I’m really liking Saskay,” said Cross.

    “I feel bad for making her drunk. My evil side is happy, my normal side is not happy.” “I just found out that Cross has feelings for me, and that is stressing me out,” Saskay revealed during another Secret Diary Room session.

    The problem is, the very next session, she said, “I’m sad/mad today, because Cross is ignoring me which is really annoying.” Make up your mind, sister!

    On a side note, Saskay also had something to say about Yousef. “You know when I said I liked a part of Yousef, because there was some mystery there? Well, I think I’ve unveiled the mystery, and… no.” Sorry, Yousef – you’re just not her type.

    Cross might want to switch his attentions to Peace

    When asked who she would hook up with if all the cameras were turned off, Peace said, “Cross. Even if the cameras were on.” Maybe Cross should cut his losses with Saskay and switch his attentions to Peace.

    The Housemates have certain opinions of Angel

    When asked the same questions about who might hook up if the cameras were off, Angel’s name came up. A lot. “Me and Angel, Angel and Mike,” said Boma. “I’d have a few,” said the ever-confident Michael before he got specific and said, “Angel.”

    Jaypaul also had Angel on his list, along with JMK and – surprise, surprise – Saskay. When pondering the question about who would hook up with whom, Whitemoney simply said, “Angel and whoever she chooses,” which says a lot about Angel’s clout in the House.

    The House can take its toll

    The Secret Diary Room session has often been home to emotional moments when the Housemates let their guard down and confess to the stresses they feel in the House.

    A crying Queen told Biggie, “I’m really trying to get used to being here, but I’m finding it harder than I thought.” “Mentally I’ve been trying to withdraw,” said Maria, “because everything I say comes out wrong.” According to Cross, “one minute you’re having a good time, the next moment it flips.”

    In a heartfelt moment that probably meant a lot to Pere, he said, “I don’t eat food with salt.”

  • Google news app to start displaying both AMP and non-AMP web content

    Google has rolled out a new update to the way news is displayed in the Google news app. Google announced the update today saying “Earlier this year, we announced the expansion of non-AMP web content in Google News as part of the page experience update.

    “As part of this update, in the coming weeks the Google News app will improve its support for web content, displaying both AMP and non-AMP web content with more regularity from sites worldwide.

    “No action is required of you to enable this.

    “As a result of this change, we will no longer directly render article text provided in RSS feeds in the Google News app. Instead, we’ll send readers directly to publishers’ web pages.

    “Consequently, and to help simplify the management of your content on Google News, we will be removing functionality in Publisher Center relating to feed-based article rendering.

    “This includes custom Analytics tracking IDs and 3rd party tracking pixels used to track in-app reads, as well as custom RSS styling and feed ads.

    “You will still be able to track and measure all of your Google News traffic through your web site’s existing analytics tracking. Google News performance reports in Search Console will also be unaffected.

    “We will remove this functionality from Publisher Center in early November and will reach out again later this year to remind you of this change.”

    This update should help publishers make more revenue and gain more publicity.

    The Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency, LASEPA, has issued a “stop-work” order to two Steel and Iron manufacturing companies in Ikorodu, Sun Flag and Top Steel, for contravening safety rules and permissible environmental standards.

    The General Manager, Dr. Adedolapo Fasawe, who led the enforcement team to the two companies, decried the squalid and unsafe working conditions, as workers were observed conducting their duties with minimal risk control to staff and surrounding communities.

    She described the situation at the facilities as “grave”, citing the negative effects to the immediate and long-term wellbeing of those working and living in the area, especially the children, elderly and infirm, who are most affected by the gross misuse of the shared environment.

    While decrying inherent risk of explosions, fires and other public safety concerns owing to the poor situation of the environment, the General Manager revealed that the visit to the factories was in response to complaints received from residents, environmental monitoring data and the outcome of surveillance conducted by LASEPA three days prior to the official visit.

    Her words: “The visit revealed that most of the activities going on in the Ikorodu industrial area do not comply with Lagos State environmental standards, as well as international best practices vis-à-vis industrial waste management and circularity. As a government, we will continue to do everything within our power to ensure that the quality of air is permissible and that the land, soil, flora and fauna are not negatively impacted by industrial activities”.

    “Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu led administration in Lagos State encourages recycling but not at the expense of the people’s lives and the environment. A lot of the machines being used here at the two companies for recycling are archaic, poorly maintained, not fit for purpose under current and future environmental standards. This is because they release large quantities of noxious gases, fumes and other hazardous substances which are a direct result of prioritising profit over the planet and people”, the LASEPA boss noted.

    Speaking further, the General Manager revealed that the State Government, in partnership with the World Bank, has sited six pilot Air Quality Monitoring Stations located in Akoka, Jakara-Island, Ipaja, Ikeja, Lekki and Ikorodu, to track all vital air quality indices as well as provide data on distribution and flow of pollution events from source to receptors.

    Fasawe said all the sealed up plants must provide an environmental action and clean-up plan, a detailed environmental management policy document, and normalise all necessary regulatory documents and taxes before being considered for reopening.

    Mr. Pankaj Mutreja the General Manager, Sunflag Steel Nigeria Ltd and Mr. Adilya Pathalk of Top Steel Company both agreed to comply with all environmental laws of the State and curb environmentally damaging activities.
    Ikorodu residents commended the Agency’s visit, calling for quick intervention and remediation directed towards restoring the natural state of the currently affected areas including Odo-Nla and Odo-Kekere areas.

    Luxembourg claimed a second win in World Cup qualifying for the first time in their history in the day’s other match, beating the Azeris 2-1.

  • Shortlisted NPower Batch C applicants asked to enrol their biodata

    The federal government has asked the shortlisted N-Power Batch C applicants to enrol their biodata. The information released indicates that all shortlisted applicants are requested to immediately enrol their biometric data to qualify for the final selection stage of the programme.

    The ministry instructed the shortlisted candidates to follow these steps:

    1. Log in to your dashboard and click the “verification” tab
    2. Click the “capture your fingerprint” button to download and install the enrolment application
    3. After installation, provide the required credentials and click “Proceed”.
    4. Make sure the fingerprint biometric device is connected, then click on “Begin Enrolment” to launch the enrolment process.
    5. Click on the finger to begin the enrolment process
    6. Applicants are to enrol their right thumb, right index, left thumb and left index fingers only for successful enrolment
    7. After successful enrolment, click on “Submit” to save the biometric enrollment

    After successful enrolment, the applicants should check the “verification” tab of their self-service portal to confirm if the capture was successful.

    Names of shortlisted candidates for NPower Batch C has been released. The announcement was made by the National Social Investment Management System (NASIMS).

    NASIMS said all applicants are expected to update their profile and take tests for possible shortlisting to the next stage of the NPower application process.

    All Npower applicants should be aware that not everyone who passed the NASIMS Test was selected for the Npower batch c deployment. As a result, we recommend that you check your npower shortlist status / selection.

    On Web Portal

    Visit https://nasims.gov.ng/ to access the NASIMS dashboard.

    The npower NASIMS deployment tab is selected.

    You’ll see your primary assignment location, as well as his or her monthly stipend and PPA letter, which you can download right away (see attached screenshot).

    Obtain a copy of the PPA/deployment letter.

    Within three days of the date of printout, deliver the deployment letter to your assigned supervisor at your primary assignment.

    Your documents will be screened by an assigned supervisor, who will mark them as accepted or rejected.

    You must re-upload the acceptance letter to your NASIMS portal if you are accepted.

    Please bring all of the documents you uploaded to the Npower NASIMS 2021 portal with you to your PPA.

    Dial the USSD code *45665# if you are a Npower Batch C applicant.

    Npower Batch C candidates should choose Npower 1 from the screen prompt.

    The Npower Batch C applicant will be directed to another screen prompt, where he or she will enter their BVN.

    Npower Batch C applicants will be able to confirm their selection status after entering their BVN.

    Due to technical issues and traffic congestion, you may receive record not found, incorrect MMI, and other errors for the time being, so a Npower Batch C applicant should keep trying.

    Required Documents

    Participants in Npower batch c are expected to report to their PPA with all documents uploaded to the Npower NASIMS 2021 portal:

    • Academic certificates include NCE/ND/HND/Bsc certificates, FSLC AND SSCE NYSC certificates for HND/ BSc holders, and FSLC AND SSCE NYSC certificates for HND/ BSc holders.
    • Certificates of date of birth/declaration of age, as well as certificates from the local government of origin.
    • The Deployment date set for screening at the PPA must not be missed by the shortlisted beneficiaries.
    • All successful applicants who are ready to deploy must have made available all required documents for verification and presented them for clarification at the screening locations.
    • Npower batch c beneficiaries must bring a printout of their BVN that meets the NASIMS requirements.

    Npower Programme Not Available Issues

    Those who were asked to change their programme because it wasn’t available in their local government and did so but haven’t been deployed should wait 72 hours because deployment is still ongoing.

    If there is no deployment after 72 hours, you can send your information to N-power via email.

    Please note that if the Npower programme is not available in your local government area, you must choose another programme and wait for updates on your Npower deployment status through the NASIMS portal.
