The gunman who opened fire inside his condo in Toronto, Canada, murdering five people frequently complained about vibrations from the electrical room, which he said made him ill.
Francisco Villi, 73, who was killed by police officers during Sunday’s rampage in Vaughan, claimed in bizarre online videos and court documents that vibrations, noises, and emissions from the electrical room beneath his unit were causing him pain, and that board members and the building’s developer were to blame.
Villi, whose older children described him as a “Jekyll and Hyde” character, posted an image of a letter to Facebook in which he claimed he had “chronic obstructive pulmonary illness” and needed to be in an area free of dust and pollution.

The shooting spree occurred the day before a scheduled online court session in which the condominium corporation’s attorneys were to argue that Villi should be evicted because he had harassed building personnel, board members, and other residents for years.
According to court papers, at least two condo managers quit as a result of his behavior, while security guards quit or switched shifts to avoid him. Residents reportedly reported that Villi would curse at and film them.
In a statement released by Ontario’s Special Investigations Units on Wednesday, Villi’s three estranged daughters described him as “a domineering and violent husband and parent.”
The women wrote, “He has a history of domestic violence towards both the mothers of his children and his daughters.” He exhibited aggressive conduct and a demeanor reminiscent to Jekyll and Hyde.
Villi killed Rita Camilleri, 57, Vittorio Panza, 79, Russell Manock, 75, his wife Lorraine Manock, 71, and Naveed Dada, 59, using a semi-automatic handgun, according to authorities. Three of them served on the condo board.
Later, Chief of Police Jim MacSween characterized the sight as “horrific.”
A sixth victim, a 66-year-old woman, was wounded during the attack but was expected to recover.
In their statement, Villi’s children wrote, “We are in complete disbelief and total sadness over what has transpired.”
The three separated daughters of Villi described him as a “controlling and abusive parent and husband.”
The unnamed daughters stated that they have been alienated from their father for more than five years.
“His children attempted to maintain a contact with him throughout the years, but were repeatedly denied assistance, leaving them with no choice but to sever relationships for their own health and safety,” they said
