Trump, the owner of competing social media site Truth Social, and Musk have been embroiled in a nasty war of words for months now, following Trump’s claim from the summer that Musk lied about supporting for him during his doomed 2020 presidential campaign.

This pattern resumed on Sunday night when Musk unleashed his latest barrage of nonsensical memes aimed at President Trump.

The Yes votes won out by nearly four percent and Trump's account was reinstated over the weekend - though Trump hours later would publicly reject Musk's offer

Musk took aim at other adversaries, including CBS News, which announced it will take a break from tweeting from its official account due to’security concerns’ arising from the Tesla executive’s takeover of the firm.

The online assault from Musk, who walked out of a $44 billion plan to acquire the social media site this summer, followed prior online attacks in which the billionaire called Trump a liar and deemed him “too old” to run for president.

The allegations were made in reaction to a June speech by Trump, during which he derided Musk as a liar and ‘Bullock artist.’

Musk, who was thought to be on excellent terms with Trump during his 2016-2020 tenure, has subsequently replied to the charges in his usually flippant fashion, releasing posts that frequently lampooned the re-election candidate.

This attack was precipitated by Trump’s claim a few days earlier that Musk is dishonest and his main commitment is to money, and that the billionaire businessman lied about voting for him during his unsuccessful 2020 presidential campaign.

The charge pertained to a Tweet in which Musk boasted about voting for new Texas Congresswoman Maya Flores. According to the CEO, it was the first time he had ever voted Republican.

During a time when Musk visited the White House and many high-profile Washington events several times and Trump hailed Musk as ‘one of our great geniuses,’ the pair’s relationship has drastically deteriorated over the past few months, representing a dramatic fall from grace.

In July, Musk revealed that he was leaning toward Florida Governor Ron DeSantis for the 2017 presidential election – a pseudo-endorsement that appeared to disparage Trump as his chief electoral competitor.

Arnold Schwarzenegger, a fellow Republican, was also quick to ridicule the politician, who last week announced a second presidential candidacy. In an interview on Friday, Schwarzenegger said the aspirant leader should step aside for other, more promising party members.

At a rally in Las Vegas over the weekend, Trump first addressed his Twitter reinstatement, Elon Musk’s takeover of the platform, and whether or not he expects to post again.

Trump stated via video call-in that he had heard Musk’s survey was receiving a large response, but he does not’see a reason for it (a return to Twitter).

There are several issues at Twitter. You are aware of the situation. It (the firm) may succeed or fail, but the difficulties are enormous and the engagements are poor,’ he added.

You have a large number of bots and false accounts, which I believe should be eliminated. But Truth Social has replaced Twitter for many users, and I don’t see them returning to Twitter,’ he added.

Since being banned from Twitter in January 2021 because to the Capitol breach, the former president has created Truth Social, his own short-form social media network.

Former Republican congressman Devin Nunes is in charge of the site, which has been plagued by a number of bugs, despite the fact that Trump and the firm’s administrators continue to claim its success.

Musk surveyed the audience over the reinstatement of the previous president’s account. The Yes votes prevailed by about 4%, and Trump’s account was reactivated over the weekend; nevertheless, Trump would openly reject Musk’s offer within hours.

Since he began routinely posting on the app in May, Truth Social has become Trump’s primary means of communicating directly with his fans.

He has using Truth Social to promote his supporters, disparage his opponents, and protect his image in the face of state, congressional, and federal judicial inquiry.

Trump told the RJC panel of Truth, “The press hates to discuss it, but it’s doing fantastically well.” “I believe interaction is far more than it is on Twitter, and it takes care of voices who genuinely want to be taken care of, as well as highly intelligent ones.”

“Truth Social has been extraordinarily potent and formidable. In addition, I will be residing there,’ he continued.

Trump has around 4.57 million followers on Truth Social.

Though the former president did encourage his followers to ‘vote immediately with optimism’ on Musk’s poll over whether or not to reactivate his Twitter account, he did so via the website Truth.

Prior to his suspension on January 8, 2021, Trump had around 88 million followers on the app and regularly shared his more personal ideas through the network.

Musk stated in May that he intended to rescind Trump’s ban, but ultimately left the choice to platform users.

Trump stated his support for Musk’s acquisition of the platform.

Trump stated of Musk, “I have always liked him.” During my time as president, we got along extremely well, and I got to know him rather well.

He said, “He’s a character, and I tend to appreciate personalities, but he’s also brilliant.”

Musk said early last week that Twitter has restored a number of banned or suspended problematic accounts, including satire website Babylon Bee and comedian Kathy Griffin.

The Chief Twit, who dubbed the day “Freedom Friday,” declared that Griffin, who had called him a “a******,” would be restored on social media after being removed last week for impersonating him on Twitter.

Also reinstated was conservative author and psychologist Dr. Peterson, who was banned from the site after claiming that transgender celebrity Elliot Page had his breasts surgically removed by a “criminal physician.”

The Babylon Bee, whose account was blocked in March for designating transgender U.S. assistant secretary for health Rachel Levine “Man of the Year,” now has full access to its account.

Alongside the reinstatement of the three accounts, Musk, who touts himself as a defender of free expression, revealed the company’s most recent stance on this topic.

Musk said, “New Twitter policy is freedom of expression, but not freedom of reach.” Negative and hateful tweets will be de-promoted and demonetized to the maximum extent, resulting in no advertising or other revenue for Twitter.

You will not locate the tweet until you actively search it out, which is consistent with the rest of the Internet.

The Chief Twit added, “Note that this only pertains to the specific tweet and not the whole account.”

Musk has not yet endorsed DeSantis for the 2024 election, although DeSantis has voiced support for the new Tesla CEO.

In the summer, when speaking at a conference in Madeira Beach, Florida, DeSantis, 44, joked about Musk’s South African origins in response to the news of his probable support.

The Republican joked, “I’m concentrating on 2022, but I welcome support from African Americans.”

The Florida governor has not yet publicly declared his candidacy for president.
