Zach Wilson has lost or at least started to lose the trust of the Jets’ coaches and players after a terrible game against the Patriots in an already boring season. Wilson’s QBR was 23rd and his passer rating was 33rd after his first seven games. His 55.6 percent rate of completing passes was the lowest of any regular starter. As Week 12 started, Joe Flacco had already thrown more touchdown passes, even though he hadn’t played since Week 3.
Still, Wilson is only 23 years old and was good enough to convince the Jets to take him with the second pick last year.
The Jets should do what? Robert Saleh hinted that he might bench him to try to get into the playoffs. Join him in thinking that high-pressure games make great quarterbacks, even if they have trouble adjusting at first. Or start looking elsewhere for a quarterback who can lead a talented team where it could go in the long run?
