Jennifer Coolidge created one of the most meme-worthy moments of the 2022 Emmy Awards by dancing when the show’s soundtrack tried to play her off-stage.
Coolidge received the Emmy for outstanding supporting actress in a limited or anthology series or movie for her performance as Tanya McQuoid in the HBO limited series “The White Lotus” on Monday evening.
Coolidge greeted the audience while wearing an emerald green garment that shimmered.
Coolidge’s speech was filled with humorous moments, including a claim that a lavender bath she made prior to the award ceremony caused her to “swell in my frock” and make it difficult for her to talk.
Coolidge protested when the music began to play her off the stage and continued to express her gratitude. The music then changed to a jazzy rendition of “Hit the Road, Jack,” and Coolidge began to shake her hips and dance to the beat.
