Monday, an ex-CNN producer pled guilty to a child rape offense for sexually assaulting a 9-year-old girl he lured to his Vermont ski chalet.
John Griffin, 45, pled guilty in federal court to utilizing interstate commerce for the attraction of a minor in exchange for the dismissal of the two remaining counts of enticement of a minor he was charged with last year.
According to authorities, Griffin, of Stamford, Connecticut, met a woman online and convinced her to bring her 9-year-old daughter to his $2.5 million Vermont cabin, where he engaged in sexual behavior with the youngster.
Griffin offered the mother $3,000 to fly from Nevada to Boston in July 2020, when he would pick them up in a Tesla and drive them to his home in Ludlow, Vermont, where he would direct the little girl to engage in criminal sexual behavior.
Also arrested and charged with child abuse and child sex assault was the mother, Heather Carriker.
The former producer allegedly boasted of enticing girls as young as seven to his home for “sexual subservice” training and encouraged the parents of other minors to bring their daughters to his residence for “sexual subservice” training.
According to authorities, he told the parents that he believed “a woman is a woman regardless of her age” and that, as such, all women should be sexually obedient and inferior to males.

According to court filings, Griffin sought to convince additional young girls to do sex acts for him through their parents.
In April 2020, he recommended to the mother of a 14-year-old girl that she and her daughter participate in a “virtual training session” through video chat in which he instructs them to strip and touch each other at his command.
Two months later, he attempted to convince a woman and her 16-year-old daughter to attend sexual training at his ski house on a “little mother-daughter excursion.”
According to court filings, he attempted to lure the girls to his Vermont ski house for “training sessions” on “spanking” and “c–k worship.”
Griffin was dismissed from CNN after his arrest. He was employed by the station for almost eight years.

Griffin, who has three of his own children, was arrested on December 10, 2021 and initially pled not guilty to three counts of enticing a minor. Following his arrest, CNN, where he worked for approximately eight years, terminated his employment.
At his sentence on March 20, he faces a minimum of 10 years and a maximum of life in prison and must pay the victims full compensation in an amount to be established by the court.
Griffin is also subject to a fine of up to $250,000 and has agreed to relinquish his Tesla and donate a portion of the earnings from the sale of his Vermont ski home and Mercedes to the court registry.
He will most likely be required to register as a sexual offender and undergo therapy.
