The View is the most recent program to comment on the Chrisley legal drama. After Todd and Julie Chrisley were sentenced to 12 and 7 years in federal prison, respectively, Joy Behar was eager to relate their situation to Donald Trump’s tax problems.
Monday, November 21st, the couple who came to popularity on USA Network’s Chrisley Knows Best was jailed for tax fraud and cheating banks out of $30 million in personal loans.
Joy Behar made the “unbelievable” comparison between the television personalities and “another reality star who shall remain nameless,” aka the former president who hosted Celebrity Apprentice.
Behar asserts that he has done “similar offenses.”
“He does not pay his taxes, he steals documents and takes them to Mar-a-Lago, even nuclear codes,” she stated. “He is free and campaigning for president, while these two fools will be incarcerated. Which is it? I do not understand.”
In the meanwhile, Sara Haines highlighted the “arrogance” of those who “rush toward the camera” rather than away when they “commit criminal acts.” “I don’t enjoy stealing Splenda from Starbucks in front of people,” she joked.
Behar, who remained steadfast in her Trump parallel, adding, “When people see the president getting away with it, they believe they can as well.”
Goldberg continued by stating that “no one gets away with tax evasion except for individuals who must remain anonymous” – a reference to Trump.
ABC airs The View weekdays at 11 p.m. / 10 p.m.
