A German man who discovered a misplaced $4 million check given to candy maker Haribo revealed that the company rewarded him with a $6 box of its candies.

The observant traveler, identified as Anouar G., 38, from Frankfurt, discovered the enormous check on a train platform after returning from a visit with his mother.
Anouar was stunned to see that the amount of the check was 4,631,538.80 euros (£4.05million).
When he contacted the firm about his finding, he was disappointed when they sent him a little bag of gummies, which he deemed ‘a bit cheap.’
He told the local reporters, “The amount was so huge that I couldn’t even pronounce it.”
A German man who retrieved a lost £4million check given to candy manufacturer Haribo revealed that the company compensated him with a £6 box of its gummies.
Anouar received a package from Haribo (shown) containing only six bags of their sweets, which typically sell for £1 apiece in the United Kingdom.
Apparently, the check given by the supermarket chain Rewe to the confectioners was misplaced at the station.
Anouar contacted Haribo on his discoveries, and one of their attorneys called him.
According to local media, instead of demanding its return, they instructed him to destroy the check and provide a photograph as evidence.
A few days later, he received a parcel from Haribo containing only six bags of its sweets, which typically sell for £1 each in the United Kingdom.
According to reports, Anouar was unimpressed, as he believes he saved the company millions of dollars.
He remarked, “I felt that was a bit stingy.”
However, Haribo informed local reporters, “Since it was a personalized check, only our company could have cashed it.”
They continued, “It was the normal thank-you package we send.”
Haribo, which was founded in 1920 by a German guy with only a sack of sugar and a handful of equipment, eventually became a global confectionary powerhouse with annual revenues of approximately £1.7 billion.
