  • Jeremy Clarkson is under fire after being fired from ITV’s Who Wants to Be a Millionaire and Amazon Prime

ITV and Amazon are under pressure to fire Jeremy Clarkson after he wrote in a piece that he fantasizes about Meghan Markle being “paraded naked through the streets.”

Jeremy Clarkson is facing calls to be sacked from his role as host of ITV's Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?
The 62-year-old former host of Top Gear has received a massive response for the article he published on Friday, in which he stated he despises the Duchess of Sussex “on a cellular level” and feels “terrible” for Prince Harry, who is “dominated” by his wife.

And in an apparent reference to the iconic “Walk of Shame” sequence from Game of Thrones, he stated that he desired to see “people hurling feces at her.”

The piece has been criticized by prominent figures, dozens of legislators, and even his daughter Emily.

There are calls for Jeremy Clarkson to be fired from his position as host of ITV’s Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?

The 62-year-old host of The Grand Tour said he despises the Duchess of Sussex ‘on a cellular level’ and feels’sorry’ for Prince Harry, who is ‘dominated’ by his wife.

Clarkson also hosts Amazon Prime’s Grand Tour and has his own show on the streaming service, Clarkson’s Farm.

The Independent Press Standards Organisation has received more than 17,500 complaints about the column, making it the article with the most complaints.

Later, Clarkson stated that he is “horrified to have caused so much harm” and that he “will be more cautious in the future.”

However, he is now facing calls for his dismissal from his position as host of ITV’s Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? In the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's Netflix docuseries, Meghan accused the British media of wanting to 'destroy' her

Clarkson also co-hosts Amazon’s The Grand Tour with Richard Hammond and James May, and has his own show on the streaming site called Clarkson’s Farm.

The SNP representative John Nicolson has written to the ITV management in response to the “grotesque insults.”

In the letter, which was uploaded on Twitter, Mr. Nicolson stated that Clarkson’s essay ‘stepped the line’ and asked that the broadcaster fire him.

Following terrible remarks made regarding the First Minister and the Duchess of Sussex, Jeremy Clarkson should not be permitted to return to our televisions, he stated. I have written to ITV’s top executive.Clarkson also presents Amazon Prime's Grand Tour and has his own shown Clarkson's Farm on the streaming service

Clarkson responded to the reaction by tweeting, ‘Oh dear. I’ve rather stepped in it. In a column I wrote on Meghan, I made a clumsy reference to a Game of Thrones scenario, which has been met with widespread disapproval.

“I am appalled to have caused so much pain, and I will be more cautious in the future.”

Ipso reported that the article, which was pulled from The Sun’s website on Monday at Clarkson’s request, had received over 17,500 complaints as of Tuesday at 9 a.m.

A statement stated, “We will review the reported concerns using our standard procedures.” Due to the high volume of complaints, this will take longer than usual.

Clarkson has been criticized for expressing a desire to see Meghan Markle “paraded naked through the streets.”

In an apparent reference to the iconic Walk of Shame sequence from Game of Thrones, the ex-Top Gear host stated that he would want to see “people hurling feces at her.”

Clarkson stated, “I despise her.” Not in the same way that I dislike Nicola Sturgeon or Rose West. I despise her on a molecular level. Rose West, serial killer, is pictured.

The number of complaints would be subject to change, it was added. In addition, the figure exceeded the total number of complaints received by the media authority in 2021, which was 14,355.

Carol Vorderman said that Clarkson’s piece “did not merely cross the line; it demolished it.”

The former host of Countdown, who was among the first prominent personalities to openly criticize Clarkson online, stated that his words ‘normalized bigotry’

In her own newspaper editorial published on Tuesday in The Daily Express, Vorderman stated that Clarkson’s remarks were unacceptable “on any level.”

“After watching the Netflix series about Harry and Meghan, I had heard more than enough commentary about every minor detail.

‘But Jeremy Clarkson’s opinion, that the duchess should be paraded naked and have feces thrown at her, not only crossed the line; it demolished it.

Under no circumstances is it acceptable to write such things about women. It is time for everyone to denounce the violent hatred of any woman.

Clarkson’s statements normalize hatred, regardless of how we feel about the relationship — and I’m not especially interested in this topic.

The column was published one day after Harry and Meghan’s Netflix documentary series, Harry & Meghan, concluded.

The six-part series on the streaming giant focused on their experiences leading up to their choice to renounce their royal obligations and begin a new life in the United States.

In the first three episodes, Meghan accused the British media of seeking to “destroy” her and of “planting” sensational articles.

Rishi Sunak was asked about Mr. Clarkson’s remarks and felt compelled to defend the United Kingdom, stressing that it is “not a racist country.” On Monday, the Prime Minister is shown in Riga, Latvia.

Clarkson later wrote, “I despise her.” Not in the same way that I dislike Nicola Sturgeon or Rose West. I despise her at the cellular level.

“At night, I can’t sleep because I lie there clenching my teeth and daydreaming about the day when she would be forced to march nude through the streets of every British town while the crowds cry “Shame!” and throw feces at her.

Everyone my age believes the same thing.

Today, Prime Minister Rishi Sunak issued a comment in response to the consequences from Clarkson’s fiery remarks.

In response to a question about the article, Prime Minister Rishi Sunak stated that “language counts.”

During an event in Riga, Latvia, Mr. Sunak remarked, “I mean, what causes someone to get so twisted by hatred that they end up writing these things?”

I believe that this reveals something about Jeremy Clarkson and his personality.

Therefore, he may simply need to take a step back and reflect on life a bit more.

Emily Clarkson, the former journalist’s daughter, joined those who condemned the former journalist’s essay on Sunday.

Sunday on Instagram, she expressed her solidarity for people “targeted by online hostility.”

She wrote, “My opinions on misogyny, bullying, and the media’s treatment of women are and have always been clear.”

I wish to make it abundantly clear that I disagree with everything my father wrote about Meghan Markle.

  • Thai sailors were rescued two days after their Navy ship went down, but many are still missing

On December 19, 2022, an HTMS Sukhothai corvette crewmember is moved to the Bangsaphan deep port in Prachuap Khiri Khan province, Thailand. AP / Anuthep Cheysakron

    Prachuap Khiri Khan, Thailand —

One surviving sailor was discovered Tuesday in the Gulf of Thailand after spending two nights at sea following the sinking of a navy warship, offering hope to the families of the more than two dozen still missing sailors.

76 sailors from the HTMS Sukhothai have been rescued from the water since the ship sank late Sunday around 22 miles off Thailand’s southeast coast.

The navy reported that rescuers in helicopters, two planes, and four vessels — the HTMS Kraburi, HTMS Angthong, HTMS Naresuan, and HTMS Bhumibol Adulyadej — were searching for 29 missing servicemen.

Tuesday afternoon, naval commander Pichai Lorchusakul confirmed that they had located Chananyu Gansriya, 23, from Loei province in good health.

“I believe it’s wonderful news that we were able to find additional people,” he added, adding that Chananyu was receiving medical attention aboard the HTMS Angthong.

Earlier, another naval official, Narong Khumburi, expressed optimism that survivors will be located because they are equipped with “life vests.”

“However, I believe they must be tired,” he continued.

The focus of efforts to locate the missing crew was on aircraft searches, with the Royal Thai Air Force aiding the operation, which has been hindered by high winds.

At the port in the province of Prachuap Khiri Khan, families of the missing waited anxiously for news.

Siri Esa, the mother of onboard 21-year-old Saharat Esa, smiled when she learned of the most recent rescue.

“I have faith in my son as well. This is excellent news “She stated,

The waves were still tall. Admiral Pogkrong Montradpalin, a spokesperson for the navy, stated on Tuesday that the search area had expanded and was now concentrating “on the area close shore, depending to currents and wind.”

At the same pier, commander Pichai of the navy expressed his continued confidence. “We are optimistic,” he remarked.

Sahachart Limcharoenphakdee, a member of the National Institute of Emergency Medicine, stated that they were collaborating with naval troops to provide medical attention to people who were rescued from the water.

“I am optimistic and have faith in the navy’s skilled rescue squad,” he said.

Local physicians have evaluated the condition of those rescued earlier, and several have been transported to hospitals.

Some “suffered from shattered bones in the upper arm and fingers,” according to Dr. Wara Selawattanakul of the provincial department of health.

50-year-old mother Phongsri Suksawat expressed hope that her youngest son, Chirawat Toophorm, would be located.

“I assumed everything would be great and nothing unpleasant would come of the storm,” she claimed, adding that her son requested her to care for his wife before he boarded the ship. She stated, “I would like to hug him.”

According to the navy, the corvette, the smallest sort of naval warship, is suspected to have encountered problems after its electrical system was destroyed.

In recent days, parts of southern Thailand have been impacted by rains and flooding.

The Thai meteorological office issued a warning for the Gulf of Thailand on Tuesday, with strong winds generating rough seas. Small boats were urged to remain ashore and mariners were warned to exercise caution.

According to the U.S. Naval Institute, the HTMS Sukhothai was commissioned in 1987 and constructed in the United States by the now-defunct Tacoma Boatbuilding Company.

  • Lukashenko admits that he and Putin are “the most dangerous and toxic persons on the globe.”

Alexander Lukashenko, the leader of Belarus, has confessed that he and Vladimir Putin are the “most toxic persons on the earth.”

Yesterday, the two leaders met amid rumors that the Kremlin leader will force the dictator of Belarus to join his war in Ukraine.

Lukashenko has thus far resisted joining the battle.Belarus leader Alexander Lukashenko has admitted he and Vladimir Putin are the 'most toxic people on this planet'

Lukashenko depicted himself and Putin as pantomime villains in a video clip that could be valuable to war crimes investigators in the future.

Alexander Lukashenko, the leader of Belarus, has confessed that he and Vladimir Putin are the “most toxic persons on the earth.”

Yesterday, the two leaders met amid rumors that the Kremlin leader will force the dictator of Belarus to join his war in Ukraine.

He confessed, “You know, the two of us are co-aggressors.”

The most destructive and poisonous individuals in the globe. There is only one disagreement: who is more [toxic]?

According to Vladimir Vladimirovich [Putin], I am. I am already beginning to suspect that he is.’

Lukashenko told journalists, ‘Well, we’ve both concluded that we’re equally poisonous. That is it.

Putin grinned and fidgeted with his papers, but he appeared to agree with former collective farm leader Lukashenko’s words.

And if someone considers ripping us apart or forcing us apart today, they will not succeed.Putin smiled and fidgeted with his papers but appeared to agree with the remarks by Lukashenko, a former collective farm boss

Putin grinned and fidgeted with his papers, but he appeared to concur with the former communal farm manager Lukashenko’s comments.

Human rights groups and opposition politicians assert that both leaders utilize their secret services to torture and humiliate their adversaries.

The majority of their political adversaries have been imprisoned or exiled.

During a rare visit to Belarus, Putin talked with Lukashenko, fueling fears in Kiev that he wants to persuade his ex-Soviet partner to join a new ground offensive that would open a new front against Ukraine.

Putin’s visit to Minsk for discussions with the Belarusian President was his first since 2019 and the election of the Russian president.

The Kremlin has attempted for years to expand integration with Belarus, which relies on Moscow for cheap oil and financing, but despite being a vital ally in the fight, Lukashenko has thus far avoided full unification with Russia.

However, suspicion grew before to Putin’s arrival that he would exert pressure on Lukashenko to send his soldiers to Ukraine alongside the Russian military, following a string of Moscow’s defeats in over 10 months of fighting.

Putin’s forces have been pushed back in the north, north-east, and south of Ukraine. It is claimed that Belarus has Soviet-era armament stockpiles that could be valuable to Moscow, whereas Lukashenko needs assistance for his country’s suffering economy.

Dmitry Peskov, a spokesperson for the Kremlin, told Russian news agencies that despite the fact that Belarus is Russia’s ‘No. 1 ally,’ claims that Moscow seeks to compel Minsk into joining its’special military operation’ are’stupid and unsubstantiated fabrications’

Ukraine’s Joint Forces Commander, Serhiy Nayev, stated that he thought the talks will address “future aggression against Ukraine and the larger engagement of Belarusian armed forces in the operation against Ukraine, including, in our opinion, even on the ground.”

Valery Zaluzhny, the top general of Ukraine, told the Economist this week that Russia was preparing 200,000 extra troops for a big onslaught that could come from the east, south, or even Belarus as early as January, but more likely in spring.

In February, Russian forces launched their failed assault on the Ukrainian capital from Belarus, and there has been Russian and Belarusian military action there for months.

Last Monday, Russia dispatched three airplanes and an airborne early warning and control aircraft to Belarus.

  • Not all officials who investigate strange deaths possess medical training

When a group of physicians convened in Washington state for their annual meeting, one of them revealed a shocking revelation: I can tell you when, how, and where to kill someone, and you’ll get away with it. No issue.

Because the skill and availability of coroners, who assess the cause of death in criminal and inexplicable deaths, varies greatly across Washington, as it does in many other regions of the country, this is the case.

Nancy Belcher, chief executive officer of the King County Medical Society, the group that gathered that day, stated, “A coroner is not required to have ever attended a science lesson in their life.”

She stated that her colleague’s stunning remark propelled her on a four-year journey to reform the state’s antiquated death investigation procedure. “These individuals examine a homicide scene or death and determine whether an autopsy is necessary. They make the ultimate decisions “Belcher added.

The majority of states assign the investigation of violent and unexplained fatalities to cities, counties, and regional authorities. A coroner can be chosen at the age of 18 or a highly trained physician might be appointed as a medical examiner. Some death investigators are employed by elected sheriffs who attempt to avoid controversy or who owe political favors. Others own funeral homes and transport deceased individuals to their private companies.

It is a disorganized and chronically underfunded system, with over 2,000 offices determining the cause of death in about 600,000 instances every year.

According to Justin Feldman, a visiting professor at Harvard University’s FXB Center for Health and Human Rights, conflicts of interest involving coroners can be “very serious.”

Last year, state legislators in Washington enacted a new statute in response to Belcher’s efforts to change the state’s coroner system, while reform efforts in California, Georgia, and Illinois have lately failed.

Oftentimes, determining the cause of death is murky and contentious, especially in police-involved homicides such as the killing of George Floyd in 2020. Floyd’s death was deemed a homicide by the Hennepin County medical examiner in Minnesota, but a heart condition and the presence of fentanyl may have played a role. Floyd’s family hired pathologists who concluded that he died of lack of oxygen when a police officer kneeled on his neck and back.

In a recent California case, the Sacramento County coroner’s office determined that Lori McClintock, the wife of congressman Tom McClintock, died in December 2021 from dehydration and gastroenteritis after swallowing white mulberry leaf, a non-toxic plant. The ruling prompted scientists, physicians, and pathologists to challenge the decision to link the plant to her death. When asked to explain how he discovered the connection, Dr. Jason Tovar, the chief forensic pathologist reporting to the coroner, stated that he used WebMD and Verywell Health to research online literature regarding the plant.

The differing credentials of death investigators are not distinguished by their numerous titles. Coroners may be elected or appointed to their positions, and they may or may not have medical training. In contrast, medical examiners are often physicians who have undergone residencies in forensic pathology.

The National Research Council suggested in 2009 that states replace coroners with medical examiners, describing the current system as “in need of major improvement.”

In 1877, Massachusetts was the first state to statewide replace coroners with medical examiners. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, as of 2019, 22 states and the District of Columbia had solely medical examiners, 14 states had only coroners, and 14 states had a combination.

The drive to convert the rest of the country’s death investigators from coroners to medical examiners is dwindling, a victim of the political power of coroners in their communities and the greater costs required to compensate for the competence of medical examiners.

The current objective is to improve coroner training and grant them greater autonomy from other government organizations.

Dr. Jeffrey Jentzen, a former medical examiner for the city of Milwaukee and the author of “Death Investigation in America: Coroners, Medical Examiners, and the Pursuit of Medical Certainty,” stated, “When you try to remove them, you come into a political wall.”

“You cannot kill them, therefore you must assist in their training,” he added.

According to Dr. Kathryn Pinneri, president of the National Association of Medical Examiners, there wouldn’t be enough medical examiners to meet demand regardless, due in part to the time and money required for training following medical school. She thinks that there are approximately 750 full-time pathologists and 80 job opportunities in the United States. On average, forty forensic pathologists are qualified each year, she said.

Pinneri remarked, “There is a severe deficiency.” “It is not possible to remove the coroner system, despite popular belief. I believe we should train coroners. This is what will make the system better.”

Her organization has advocated for coroners and medical examiners to operate alone, without ties to other government or law enforcement authorities. The organisation discovered in a 2011 study that 82% of the forensic pathologists who replied had been pressured by politicians or the deceased person’s family to change the reported cause or manner of death in a case.

Former California chief forensic pathologist Dr. Bennet Omalu quit five years ago, citing intervention by the San Joaquin County sheriff in protecting law enforcement officers.

In 2018, Omalu testified before the state Senate Governance and Finance Committee, “California is the most regressive death investigation system, is the most regressive in forensic science and forensic medicine.”

Since then, San Joaquin County has separated the coroner from the sheriff’s office.

California is one of three states that permit sheriffs to also serve as coroners, and all but ten of the state’s 58 counties combine the positions. At least two legislative attempts to separate them have failed, most recently this year. AB 1608, which was championed by state Assembly member Mike Gipson (D-Carson), passed the Assembly but failed to pass the Senate.

“We believed we had a reasonable proposal. That it was the initial step, “Robert Collins, whose stepson Angelo Quinto, 30, died after being restrained by Antioch police in December 2020, campaigned for the bill.

The Contra Costa County coroner’s office, which is part of the sheriff’s department, determined that Quinto’s death was caused by “excited delirium,” a contentious diagnosis that is sometimes used to explain deaths in police custody. The American Medical Association and the World Health Organization have disputed the finding.

Collins stated that legislators “did not want their names attached to something that would turn the sheriffs against them.” The very presence of this opposition is enough to intimidate many politicians.

The influential California State Sheriffs’ Association and the California State Coroners Association opposed the bill, citing the “huge costs” associated with establishing independent coroner offices.

Democratic state representative Maurice West presented identical legislation in Illinois last year. In response, a number of Illinois counties stated that they would bear a financial cost. His expansive bill would have substituted medical examiners for coroners.

He stated that rural counties in particular protested about their constrained budgets and killed his idea before it could be heard by a committee.

West stated, “When something like this impacts rural regions and they push back a little bit, we simply stop.”

In small, rural counties of Washington state, the local prosecutor doubles as the coroner. Proponents of reforming the system met similar obstacles.

The King County Medical Society, which authored the legislation to separate the two, asserted that the current structure presented a conflict of interest. However, minor counties feared they lacked the funds to hire a coroner.

Therefore, lawmakers reached an agreement with the counties to let them to pool their resources and hire pooled contract coroners in exchange for the elimination of prosecutors’ dual roles by 2025. The bill, HB 1326, which was approved by Democratic Governor Jay Inslee last year, also compels coroners and medical examiners to undergo more stringent training.

Belcher stated, “We encountered a few aggressive individuals who genuinely believed we were out to get them, despite the fact that we were not.” “We were merely attempting to determine a system that I believe everyone would agree needed to be updated.”

  • President Ramaphosa addresses the delegates at the ANC 55th elective conference on Tuesday

President Cyril Ramaphosa addressed the audience before the ANC 55th elective conference ended on Tuesday. He was joined in the Nasrec plenary by the party’s new vice president, Paul Mashatile.

They were joined by two new deputy secretaries, Nomvula Mokonyane and Maropene Ramokgopa, as well as the new treasurer, Dr. Gwen Ramokgopa.

Ramaphosa was beaming during the singing of the young choir adjacent to the stage.

Many delegates applauded as new Secretary-General Fikile Mbalula recognised his leadership, waving banners from Free State, Limpopo, Gauteng, Northern Cape, and Eastern Cape.

The absence of KwaZulu-Natal delegates in the plenary hall was due to the province’s devastating loss.

Former presidents Thabo Mbeki and Kgalema Motlanthe were among the SACP and Cosatu leaders present.

Ramaphosa recognised previous ANC president Jacob Zuma, who did not attend the ANC president’s closing remarks.

“We are going to continue with the finalisation of this conference on 5 January 2022 in a hybrid fashion. As conference is finalised on the 5th of January, we will also be hosting the January 8 celebration in Mangaung. This conference is going to continue to solidify our unity as the movement. The branches have spoken by choosing the leadership that will take this movement forward. There is no other reason for ANC other than to unite and work for the people of this country. We have chosen a renewal and restoration of our movement, and we are on the right path to build this glorious ANC. The path of the principled unity is what we believe in. We also came with different proposals and, finally, we came up as a unity. And this is despite an act of others who wanted us to fail. The discipline among the delegates was great, the branches have spoken and made their choice on who should the leadership be,” said Ramaphosa.

He added that the ANC had its own flaws and had paid hard in many ways.

“As ANC, we have made mistakes and paid for such in many ways. Even after finding ourselves on the brink of collapse, we stood up and pushed ourselves back. There is no other reason for the existence of the ANC but to mobilise, unite and rebuild our nation. This conference has provided guidance for our structures in government to end gender-based violence and femicide. This conference has committed to build the better country and the better Africa,” added Ramaphosa.

He said that it is great progress to have women represented in the top seven leadership.

“We need to advocate for equality in all our structures in terms of participation, roles and structures. The equality that we speak of must be practiced by the ANC. We recognise that corruption in the ANC is a serious threat in our movement. We also acknowledge that we have not done enough to address the issues and adversity of corruption,’ he said.

Delegates sang “Phakama Ramaphosa” after he had ended his speech, concluding with the national anthem

  • 40-year-old Manchester City fan who sexually attacked an Everton fan is spared jail time

A female Manchester City supporter who became intoxicated and grabbed a male Everton supporter during a Premier League football match avoided jail time despite the victim’s request that women sex offenders be treated similarly to males.

Manchester City fan Jemma Whiteside, 40, (pictured) has escaped jail after she was convicted of groping an Everton fan during a Premiership clash
In February, 40-year-old Jemma Whiteside assaulted the man shortly before kickoff and declared, “I’m going to f*** him later, and I don’t even know his name.”

The mother of six rejected the charges, stating that she “wouldn’t even do this to my boyfriend in public.” She said that as a’staunch city supporter,’ she could not imagine herself making such a statement to a Scouser.

Whitehouse was found guilty of sexual assault last month and was facing up to ten years in prison for the crime. She was sentenced to a nine-month community order, 15 days of rehabilitative activity, a fine, court fees, and victim restitution last week.

Whiteside (pictured) grabbed the man's genitals and twerked against his shoulder shortly before kick-off in February - saying: 'I am going to f*** him later, I don't even know his name'
40-year-old Manchester City supporter Jemma Whiteside (pictured) was acquitted of molesting an Everton supporter during a Premier League match.

Whiteside (left) grabbed the man’s genitalia and twerked against his shoulder prior to the February game, stating, “I’m going to f*** him later, I don’t even know his name.”

Whiteside, a resident of Worsley, Greater Manchester, was at Goodison Park on February 26 to watch City defeat Everton 1-0.

The victim, who is in his forties, reported the event to the police and stated that he was “shocked” to have been fondled.

PC Mark McGinty, who detained Whiteside in the stands, told the court that she was “very intoxicated” based on her behavior throughout the game.

Whiteside, (pictured) whose son is in the final year of a scholarship at a Premiership club and whose daughter is undertaking trials at Liverpool FC, faced jail after she was convicted of sexual assault last month
Mr. McGinty recalled, “She was flailing her arms crazily, leaning over the barrier and trying to grasp those below while shouting at them and toward the field.”

Her speech was extremely slurred, she was wobbly on her feet, and her eyes were bloodshot. I had the impression that she was quite intoxicated.

The court heard that Whiteside was overheard stating that she “loved Scouse men” in the officer’s statement.

When Whiteside (pictured) was asked about the incident, she retorted: 'As a staunch City fan that is not something I can see myself saying. I wouldn't even do this sort of thing to my boyfriend in public. Ask any Man City fan and they will wholeheartedly agree. That is not something I would do'
Later, when asked about the event, Whiteside responded, “As a die-hard city fan, I cannot imagine myself saying that.”

I would never do such a thing in public to my lover. Any Man City fan would agree fully if asked. That is not a course of action I would take.

“He has taken offense with me; he dislikes me.” I am both a respectable mother and City supporter. I would not act in a manner that would hinder my ability to watch Manchester City.”

Whitehouse stated at the hearing, “Had I been walking by, I might have bumped against him.” It was a football game and the venue was full, so it is easy to accidentally bump into someone.’

She also denied that she was intending to “f**k him later” and added, “I never said that.”

“I have never before made such a statement in my life. I am the mother of six offspring. When I am not caring for my children, the only activity I engage in is football.

Whiteside, whose son is in the final year of a scholarship at a Premiership team and whose daughter is through trials at Liverpool FC, was convicted of sexual assault last month and faces up to ten years in prison.

However, she was sentenced to a nine-month community order and 15 days of rehabilitation activities last week.

A judge ordered her to pay the victim £400 in restitution and fined her an additional £200 plus £295 in court costs, stating that “drunk individuals can and frequently do things that are out of character.”

District Judge James Clarke found her guilty of sexual assault and stated that the victim experienced “quite an unusual and unexpected form of interaction.”

In his initial statement, he said that he was touched on the buttocks, testicles, and penis. In his testimony, he simply mentioned testicles, although the entire intimate region is included. His response was one of disbelief.

Clearly, for the victim to misread or manufacture the statement “I shall have him later, and I don’t even know his name” is a peculiar thing to do.

“Under the influence of alcohol, individuals can and frequently do things that are wildly out of character. I am certain that the woman had had alcohol during the afternoon.

She was a woman in great spirits who was hustled by her companions while enjoying her final sips of vodka.

According to my assessment, the complainant provided a credible story. It was not something susceptible to misunderstanding or error. I am not convinced that is a fabrication on his part.

“The defendant was a prankster, and this was a stunt that went horribly wrong while he was drunk and probably showing off to his companions.”

Senior Crown Prosecutor Mike O’Kane of CPS Mersey Cheshire stated after the case, ‘This man was subjected to a completely unprovoked and unanticipated sexual attack by Ms Whiteside.

The incident caused the victim both distress and embarrassment. In his victim impact statement, which was given during the sentencing hearing, he added, “It should not matter if the assault was committed by a man or a woman; it should be addressed equally.”

The Crown Prosecution Service echoes this sentiment. Men do experience sexual assaults and are entitled to legal protection.

The CPS strives to apply the law impartially, regardless of the suspect’s or victim’s gender, and to vigorously prosecute crimes of this nature.

The victim in this case was compelled to attend trial and testify because Ms. Whiteside refused to acknowledge her responsibility.

2022 UI GreenMetrics Global Ranking: LASU Emerges Best University in West Africa

Lagos State University was rated the Best University in Nigeria and the West African Sub-region in the recently released 2022 UI GreenMetrics worldwide Ranking. The organisation assessed 1050 institutions from across the globe on green environment indicators, including LASU, which was placed 799 internationally and 15th in Africa overall, following 14 Egyptian universities.

Universitas Indonesia launched the UI GreenMetric World University Rating in 2010 as a ranking of green campuses and environmental sustainability. The UI GreenMetric World University Rankings used 39 parameters in 6 categories to carefully evaluate the rankings based on institutions’ environmental commitment and initiatives.

It is the first time LASU has taken part in the ranking, which, according to the organisers, grades participants based on 39 indicators and six categories, namely Setting and Infrastructure (SI), Energy and Climate Change (EC), Waste (WS), Water (WR), Transportation (TR), and Education (ED).

The Vice Chancellor, Prof. Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello, mni, has expressed her joy at the ranking, calling it a significant milestone in her goal of making LASU the best in West Africa. She congratulated the whole university community and thanked the Lagos State Government, headed by Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, for enabling her administration to flourish.

The Vice-Chancellor went on to say that the institution will not stop adopting the policies, strategies, and infrastructures needed to place LASU as the best in the sub-region in all other ranking indices.
