According to reports, French midfielder Paul Pogba has informed French police of an alleged conspiracy to blackmail him by a gang that pulled him to a Paris apartment in March, demanded £11 million (R184 million), and threatened him with assault guns.

Paul Podgba reportedly told authorities of an alleged plot against him by a gang, as reported by the Daily Mail. The former Manchester United midfielder claims the group demanded the money for “security services” dating back thirteen years. This is included of his time in Manchester.
Pogba asserted that two armed individuals claimed to have “protected” him for over a decade. The football player claimed the group demanded £11 million (R184 million) and threatened him for four months.
“During different sessions, Paul Pogba was able to divulge in investigators from the Central Office of Court Police Combating Organised Crime that he was imprisoned by childhood pals and two hooded guys armed with assault guns,” according to a tabloid citing a judicial source.
According to the publication, two individuals close to Pogba’s family believe that the money is being requested by the gang and “childhood buddies” — if he want to prevent the release of purported incriminating tapes.
The gang is also believed to have taken Pogba to a Lagny-sur-Marne apartment in the Paris neighborhood of Lagny. According to reports, the football star was supposedly taken there at the end of March. Reportedly, the gang members accused Pogba of not assisting them financially since he became a professional athlete.

In a statement signed by his attorneys, his mother Yeo Moriba, and his agent Rafaela Pimenta, the 29-year-old said that the tapes were “sadly not a surprise” and were in addition to “threats and extortion attempts.”
Pogba also claimed that one of the threats involved him asking a sorcerer to put a spell on French teammate and Paris Saint-Germain superstar Kylian Mbappe. He has, however, refuted this claim.
According to the Daily Mail, judicial authorities in Paris have confirmed that an inquiry into “attempted extortion by a criminal organization” was launched on Sunday, August 28.
