Simon&Schuster issues apology, $600 refunds after saying hand signed books were not inscribed by Bob Dylan

Simon & Schuster apologized and refunded $600 for books said to be “hand autographed” by Bob Dylan.

The publishing business apologized to individuals who bought “The Philosophy of Modern Song” limited edition on Instagram. The limited edition volumes retain Bob’s original autograph, but as a facsimile.

“We’re promptly refunding each buyer,” the message said.

The announcement comes after buyers compared signatures on social media and noticed similarities.

The volumes arrived with a letter from Simon & Schuster CEO Jonathan Karp vouching for the signature’s legitimacy, although they were done using “autopen.”

In "The Philosophy of Modern song," Dylan compares different pieces ranging from Hank Williams' “Your Cheatin’ Heart” to Jackson Browne’s “The Pretender.”
