Disarming suspects is a priority in the Western Cape and our specialized units did just that when members of the Anti-Gang Unit in collaboration with Crime Intelligence conducted an intelligence driven operation in Abbottsdale, Malmesbury on Wednesday morning, 9 March 2022 and arrested a 34-year-old suspect for the possession of an unlicensed firearms and ammunition and possession of drugs.
The members executed a search warrant at a premises and found firearms, several rounds of ammunition, 198 mandrax tablets, a large quantity crystal meth, a flare gun and an undisclosed amount of cash on the premises.
The suspect will make a court appearance in Malmesbury on the mentioned charges.
In an unrelated matter members Manenberg police where busy with crime prevention patrols in Thames Walk, Manenberg when they noticed a male who acted suspicious when he saw the police vehicle approaching. The members stopped and searched a 38-year-old suspect and confiscated a firearm with ammunition in his possession.
Once charged, the suspect will appear in the Athlone Magistrate’s Court on charges of possession of an unlicensed firearm and illegal possession of ammunition.
