Friends of the parents of an eight-year-old boy and a six-year-old girl who tragically passed away within four weeks of one another have contributed almost £6,000 to assist the children’s upbringing.
Amie Walton, age 30, was facing terminal cancer when her partner, Chris Mills, passed away unexpectedly while spending the night at the hospital with her.
After seeing her doctor for severe heartburn, she was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer.
Amie, who had liver and bowel cancer, awoke on July 18 in Good Hope Hospital in Birmingham to discover that her 42-year-old spouse had passed away due to a ruptured stomach ulcer.
Four weeks later, on August 18, Amie died while visiting her father in Devon, according to The Mirror.
In May, she was informed that her cancer had progressed, leaving her with 50 tumors in each lung despite treatment.
The couple leaves behind their eight-year-old son Harry and six-year-old daughter Mia. The youngsters, who previously resided in north Birmingham with their parents, are now under Tracey’s care.
Bal Singh was horrified to learn of the tragic deaths of his former customers following the tragic news. He has created a fundraising page in an effort to assist the couple’s young children.
Before their deaths, the website recounted the couple’s tight relationship: ‘Her devoted and loving spouse Chris spent a great deal of time with Amie, soothing her in every way possible.’
At the time of writing, about £7,000 had been raised.
Amie’s family was informed that her best chance of survival lay in a type of treatment that was not covered by the NHS, so they launched a drive to raise the £35,000 needed to pay for it.
Jess Davies, Amie’s best friend and godmother to both Henry and Mia, told The Mirror following Amie’s terminal diagnosis, “Harry and Mia are tiny dreams, they’re incredible.”
“We were meant to celebrate Halloween together, but Amie had just learned she would be receiving palliative care and didn’t feel like it, so I volunteered to take the children trick-or-treating.”
“I was applying makeup on Mia when I saw Harry approach Amie and ask, “Are you going to die?” with trembling in his voice. And Amie said: “I am, but I’m going to keep fighting, okay?”
Amie was comforting him while Harry destroyed his small heart. Mia had a single tear which had dripped down her makeup as I observed her. I stated to her, “She’ll be OK” with a wink, and she responded with a smile.
Tracey stated, “I would want to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone engaged in raising funds for my grandchildren. We have all been experiencing a difficult time recently.
“We were all focused on assisting Amie through her illness and preparing for what lied ahead when we received the devastating news of Chris’s untimely death. Amie was so courageous and built herself up to get through it, for which I was very proud of her.
Amie travelled to her father’s house in Devon for a vacation after Chris’s funeral, where she passed just a few days later. We shall continue to carry them in our hearts and raise their children to the best of our abilities.
Again, I would want to thank Bal and everyone for their continuing support.
Mr. Singh stated, “We have a particular place in our hearts for Harry and Mia. Losing a parent at such a young and impressionable age is difficult, but losing both parents is unbearable.
“The circumstances were unfathomable and affected everyone.”
“We are coming together as a community to do the best we can for Harry and Mia, and I would want to convey my deepest appreciation and gratitude to each and every one of you for your contribution to not just Harry and Mia’s but also their families’ well-being.”
