An elderly woman was allegedly ran over in her own driveway during a carjacking, leading to her hospitalization and the arrest of two guys.
Jean Parry, who is in her seventies, was sitting in her Honda Civic in the driveway of her Hamilton Hill house, 23 kilometers south-west of Perth, Western Australia, about 8 a.m. on Friday after returning from a walk when two guys stole it.
The two guys, aged 22 and 24, allegedly rode their bicycles to the Ralston Street residence, where they pulled Ms. Parry out of her automobile and ran over her leg with the stolen vehicle before fleeing.
Approximately forty minutes later, the stolen vehicle was discovered in the nearby district of North Coogee, and police arrested the two suspects in a dramatic seaside takedown.
Officers arrested the shirtless assailants in a grassy field and on the beach, as seen on police bodycam footage.
Ms. Parry was transported to the Fiona Stanley Hospital for treatment of her injuries, which included a fractured leg.
Detective Sergeant Jason Hutchison told Nine News that an incident had occurred.
Mr. Hutchison stated, “He approached the vehicle, there was some sort of altercation, she fell on the ground, and as the male drove away, he drove over her.”
Mr. Hutchison referred to the assault as a “brazen opportunistic crime” because detectives believe the men pounced when they observed Ms. Parry leave her car running to unlock her driveway gate.
The two guys have been charged with several offenses, including severe grievous bodily harm, by the police.
The men are scheduled to appear in court on Saturday.
